    Ameraucana Colors

I have a question about lavenders and blues. I bought Lavenders and blues that I purchased from Paul Smith. I have them all together. What do you get when you cross them?

    Blue Barred Rocks?

Thank you so much. I think this will be fun. I've often tried to come up with a project and these chicks just sorta happened on accident. So I'm gonna roll with it.

    Blue Barred Rocks?

I want to breed for color and peacomb first and then go for an egg color. She is prettier than I thought she would be. All my chicks have full muffs so far. Moms are both splashes so I'm getting lots of blues. I have some Paul Smith blues and self blues that I may include on this little...

    Blue Barred Rocks?

May I ask what color eggs she laid? I'm guessing a light greenish egg?

    Blue Barred Rocks?

Well so far, I have hatched 14 of these blue Barred chicks. I think I have enough to start playing around. I'm going to get another Barred Rock Roo to put over the hens in order to get the double barring in my next chick go round. Of course I have to wait for my current chicks to grow up...

    Hybrids!

Yup, too many Roos. I usually just rehome them to people that need them if they are nice Roos. Otherwise into the soup pot.

    Hybrids!

I have a buff Brahma too that needs a home too. Predators killed all but two Roos and one hen and that's too many for one poor little hen. But here is one chicky. I'm thinking about breeding for a double Barred blue. Seems like a fun project.

I can post more as he/she gets bigger. I'm very curious to see how these four turn out.

    Blue Barred Rocks?

Yes, I have Paul Smith Blues and self blues. I just didn't think of Barred Rocks as being in the same color scheme. And I only have the four chicks right now. I'm not not sure as that was the oldest one I posted pics of. I'll take another pic.

    Blue Barred Rocks?

I guess it makes sense though as a Barred Rock is essentially a black bird with a double Barred gene.

    Blue Barred Rocks?

They're going to be kept as pets. I just wasn't expecting to see chicks like this. I didn't think my hen was a true Splash as she is a hatchery bird. Plus it didn't dawn on me that the way coloring works in Ameraucanas would work with Barred Rocks.

    Blue Barred Rocks?

My Barred Rock Roo mated with my Easter Eggers, hatchery Ameraucanas, and I produced what I can only describe as Blue Barred Rocks. They are definitely blues and they have a spot on the head and my oldest one is getting Barred wings. The other three just hatched today. I was wondering if...

    Hybrids!

I can't find anything out about this cross. I know the eggs will be green.

    Hybrids!

Hi, I just accidentally hatched some Blue Barred Rocks. My Barred Rock got with my Ameraucanas and I hatched blue chicks with a white spot on the head and barring on the wings.

Thank you. I have 3 ducklings that are chocolate (Male?) chocolate barred (male?) and black barred (female?). I am hoping that these colors will all work out. Any opinions on the coloring of the four I posted?
