She's almost a year old.
I have five chickens, in their coop they have about 70 sq ft and for now their run is 45 sq ft (within the next week we're adding another 120sq ft.)
She's mean to my two RIR's.
Let me start off by saying that I've been having problems with one of my chickens for over six months now. My buff Orpington (Archer) has been pulling out feathers, chasing the others and just being mean. At first I thought it was winter boredom, but as the weather has gotten nicer Archer is...
My chickens have a very bad habit of pulling out each other's feathers in the neck area. I though maybe it was just winter boredom but now it's spring and they're outside a lot more and they're still pulling feathers.
I've sprinkled meal worms for them to peck at, gave them a flock block...
One of them is just missing some feather but I can't get the other to stay still long enough to get pictures. My family and I are working one making a much large space for them to be in. what would you do to for boredom?
This morning I went to check on my chickens and two of them had neck wounds. I've gotten them isolated and I think they should be fine.
Has anyone had a similar situations and figured out the cause of this?
Also what should I do to prevent this in the future?
Here are my theories of how they...
Last summer I got 6 chicks from a state fair but had to get rid of one because he was a rooster.
But I love having my chickens!
I ordered another 6:
1 olive egger
1 Easter egger
1 barred Plymouth Rock
1 buff Orpington
1 silver laced Wyandotte
1 golden laced Wyandotte
They aren't coming...
So I've noticed that my chickens have started to sit on their eggs.
Is this normal for chickens to do in cold weather?
Also another concern of mine is that I noticed that a few of my chickens tried to eat one of the eggs that I dropped.
So if my chicken start eating their eggs what should I do...
Well good luck! My family and I also have a dream about being homesteaders, a large garden, more chickens (we already have 5), more rabbits, alpaca and a few goats.
I think if we found the right land we would happily take the leap.
Yeah I have a litter pan for her in there but she kicks all of it out and makes a huge mess.
Thanks for the suggestion. I was just hoping to see if people had some tricks or something.
So a couple months ago I got a rabbit, her name is bugs and i think that she is just the cutest thing but I can't keep her cage clean! I clean it and scrub it down and when I turn around she has popped all over again.
So does anyone else have ideas on how to keep my rabbits cage as clean as...
