I tried to give an orphan chick to another hen and she killed it. She had some new babies and coyotes had killed my other hen who had 3 chicks so I thought she would take them. She did not:(
I don't know but would like to know how they did. Don't forget to take pictures when you open the box. I think they will be ok, if very thirsty but just a guess on my part. Why is it taking 4 day? I have never ordered any through the mail, but was thinking of getting some Jersey Giants.
I find it hard to believe they will spend a lot of money to get a DNA sample and they would have to get a sample of your dogs DNA, which you don't have to give them except by court order. Getting a court order could cost them over $10000. I think they just said this because they where mad.

I wish I had another place to buy mine but other then online, Tractor Supply is the my only option. Saying that, I have to say the chicks I bought from TS where heathy and grew into good laying hen. I would buy onine but after shipping cost, it cost too much for only a few chickens.
I have a question kind of along the breed of chickens TS sell. I bought some when I was starting with chickens and picked 3 black ones. When they grew up, they where solid black with the softest feathers, average size. Also very docile and friendly. I unfortunately lost them to a predator one...
You need to stop the other chicks from laying eggs in her nest. If it's her first brooding, I would not put more then 10 eggs under her. 8 would be better. You should get 6 from 8.
