I have one chick from our bator that hatch with splayed legs :( he is tiny and getting picked on. Has a hard time sleeping so I have to hold him in a position so he sleeps comfortably. How do I fix his legs? Can he stay with the others? I'm home all the time and can nurse on him. He is tiny and...
Chick hatched today, day 19, had yolk attached to butt but absorbed it. Then I noticed is eyes arnt open. It's also been 3 hours and it hasn't stood up. It'll peep and squirm around though. Hasn't fluffed to either exept it's tummy. What to do and what will happen?
Moved her to brooder, she absorbed what was left of the yolk. Hasn't stood up at all but she's squirming around and starts peeping when she hears us talking. Hopefully she will make it
Update. Chick is squirming around wanting to stands. After I wrote all that I checked on the chick and it's forcing the yolk out of it's body.. Like pooping it..
Yolk looks like it may have reptured.. Chick is moving and kicking it's leg, seems pretty ok. Also it's on chicken wire and toes got stuck under one of the holes. Should I take it out gently and put it on my brooder with a heating lap or in the brooder box next to a warm heater?
Chich hatched on day 19, she fully out of the shell and she has been just laying there (breathing) for half the day. The yolk sack is still attached as well. She is trying her best and looks like she is doing ok. But what about the yolk?? Will it still suck the yolk in or do I remove it(and...
Ok it's day 19 in one hour, and when I went to add water to the bator, one chick started pipping. At first I was overjoyed! Then I reliesed it was on the wrong side of the egg!! Another issue is, I won't be home all day in case it's in the wrong position and it needs help. I do not want this...
I also heard twice, the slightes movement/shaking of an egg. Like the chick was so strong it made the egg move a little. Is that a sign one of then is getting ready?
Ok, that's both helpful to know for the project and if anything like that happens in the future when I incubate more eggs. What happens when the yolk raptures?
I'm on day 18 and I'm doing this as a project to present in front of some 4h kids/4h club. I'm writing down interesting facts and taking many pictures. There is one question I don't know an answer to, what happens if u drop on egg on day 17/18 or maybe even 19 (although I wont handling or turn...
It's day 18, should I turn the eggs today or let them be until they hatch?
I candled one egg that has a very thin white shell and is super easy to see through. The air bubble got bigger since last night, and it looks like a tiny bit of the chick is in on the edge of the air bubble. Does that...
I want to take out the chicks one by one when they dry off but will this cause the others to shrink wrap? It'll be very fast.
Also what about adding water during lock down to maintain a higher humidity? Is it ok to open incubator for a second?
12 hours until day 18 of incubating my eggs! Which means almost time for lockdown! This is my first time incubating eggs, and all is going well, I can see the chicks moving when I candle, the movement has settled down though. Tomorrow is the last time I will candle and turn them. But I have...
i thought nail polish would kill them as well, i myself cant stand the smell. but my two eggs that cracked early are growing! they seem perfectly fine and healthy!
I have 26 eggs in the bator, two cracked on day 3 (house keeper bumped the bator on accident) but I put nail polish over the cracks and it's now day 9 and they are healthy and growing! A few days ago I was turning them and I noticed one was cracked/dented (I think someone bumped into the bator...
