I've never had one go broody that young, but I guess if she's laying its possible. They have in incredible instinct.

Show off your Old English Game Bantams!!

My 2 oldest Crele pullets (this year's babies) have started laying. I'd have to check the dates, but they're right at 5 months old. Pleasantly surprised, because I didn't expect eggs til Spring.

Most duckwings will have white legs, the exceptions coming to mind being Brassy/Blue Brassy/Quail. Most birds that are blue or black have dark legs. Blue SDW, Blue Reds (Blue BBR) don't. Most reds will have white legs (except gingers). Many Crow Wing OEGB will have dark legs, but whites...

Very tightly feathered. Makes the hens gorgeous.

Show off your Old English Game Bantams!!

This one is a keeper. Great form, carries his wings properly, and so far has a great disposition. He's showing good tail growth at 5 months, so he has potential. His second set of sickles have almost grown out. I'll dub when they are finished. This is the youngest of my Crele...

It'll be interesting to see how he feathers out. Probably a wild type cross somewhere down the line.

Show birds are simply bred to the SOP. Biggest difference I notice is in the tails. Go to a real show and look at the OEGB. The difference between those, and most you'll see here (including many of mine) will be obvious. A pair you could pull out of the box and compete in a show with will...

He's a duckwing. That makes him a BBR.

Gabby's a rescue. Smartest dog I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. As far as she's concerned, the chickens belong to her. Bodhi's a Heeler. Loves chickens. A little too much. He can catch whatever gets loose. They have a choice. Get in the pen or get caught. Bindi is my girl. Polar...

Show off your Old English Game Bantams!!

So, I decided to go with Australian Cattle Dogs for varmint control with my birds. They're perfect. Relentless. Love my chickens, but keep my flock straight. Perfect catch dogs. Some OEGB roosters are crafty, hard to catch. My male, Bodhi, grabs my birds by the tail, puts a paw on them, and...

Show off your Old English Game Bantams!!

I think, per the Standard, any bird 9 months of age or older at the time of showing should be dubbed. I think OEGB look better dubbed. I've dubbed roosters I didn't like, and fell in love with them afterward.

That's a BBR that looks more like a brown red than any I've seen.

Very interesting comb on that girl. I like it.

Wish I could help, but I've raised a total of 1 jap. I do know that in OEGB I get a fair amount of variation in leg and back length. A bird with a short back will carry his tail in an extreme upright position, as well as drop his wings too low, covering his legs. In OEGB, it's better to cull...

Show off your Old English Game Bantams!!

My birds are all broody, so I'm not getting eggs right now. I'm trying to phase out everything but my Creles so I can work with them exclusively (well, OEGB wise that is). Just started this project last year, and can already see that these are a good bunch of birds that I can improve quickly...

Show off your Old English Game Bantams!!

I like my Creles. They're not perfect but I can fix the things I don't like (mainly tail length). I see very few OEGB with adequate tails. My pullets are pretty, but they all seem to be male line. It's hard to beat a really pretty female line Crele pullet.

Pics of the first batch of Creles I hatched this year. There were only 4, 50/50.
