I have an EE that is 17 weeks but has been with an egg layer for half her life. I only have the two. She mimics the other hen and lays in her nest box in the evening. What is the earliest age that they will lay. I know the normal is 19-22 weeks. Thanks for the help.

You should be fine. The most important thing that I have experienced was water. Water...water...and more water (h20). Do you have pine shaving in the brooder? If so you may need to have someone check on them to make sure the shavings are not in the water because they will soak up the water...

I am in the same boat as you are. I got a chick from a friend that has multiple species. I believe I have a Barred Rock also. To me it is hard to tell because of the crest. However, I have seen adult Barred Rock hens that have crest and waddle of a roo. Here is a picture of mine that is 7...
