    Brinsea Mini Advance Incubator

Back and forth. If the eggs aren't turning when the motor runs there's one of two things that's wrong 1) You've put the tray in upside down, cupping the eggs and suspending them above the bottom of the incubator - or - 2) The eggs are too large and are touching each other. Eggs over...

    Brinsea Mini Advance Incubator

Quote: It took me a few goes to understand this. Am I right in saying.. You bought the 12-egg tray for pheasant/quail eggs, your Bantam hen eggs where touching and not rotating so you ran it manually and turned the eggs by hand? If that's correct it would be very helpful if you could measure...

Quote: Take a look at ebay in the UK, prices seem to be about £90 for the unit plus shipping - you should be able to get one for about €110 delivered to the netherlands.

    Brinsea Mini Advance Incubator

Hi, Here's the user guide If that doesn't answer your question on configuring the turning interval and rotation duration then please write back and I'll try and explain further or answer any specific questions you have.

There's no Angle specifically, just a turn duration. You can guesstimate an angle by drawing a vertical line from the pointy end to the blunt end, set this to top dead centre and then seeing where it ends up after the rotation completes. The actual amount will not always be consistent because...

    Brinsea Mini Advance Incubator

First things first.... hang on until you get the incubator first. No point in worrying about it until you find out it doesn't actually do what you thought. The 12-egg tray was designed for Quail/Pheasant size eggs - how does that compare with your Bantam eggs? What size are they (weight and...

    Brinsea Mini Advance Incubator

Finally got a snap of the the duck eggs in the Mini Advance. These are much larger than our normal hen eggs (90g instead of 70g) and just wont turn. The not turning is pretty academic because six days in and I'm not seeing any signs of any development whatsoever. I have excellent visibility on...

And I should have pointed out... that egg "B1" in that pic - wouldn't turn properly. It was 74g. I cant' tell without a direct comparison but I wonder if the size and location of the aperture that allows the egg to connect with the base of the incubator hasn't changed as well.

Now, that is interesting. The change in design in the turning platen over what they shipping when the incubator first launched. I wonder if the problems I'm suffering with larger eggs might be helped along by that. I'll write to Brinsea and see what they have to say.

Call Duck Eggs: Artifical Versus Natural Incubation

Seven duck eggs went into my Brinsea Mini Advance on Wednesday morning and although they physically fit in the turning mechanism can't cope - the eggs are just too large. I've settled on a 120 degree rotation every 8 hours for my manual turning regime. First time I've not used the Brinsea in...

Taste difference of hen vs roo?

We raised 20+ birds last year, Golden Brahma cock crossed with generic farmyard layers. The large size of the Brahmas comes through in the cocks and they've made excellent quality crosses for table birds. There is a marked difference in the males when they reach sexual maturity (apart from...

    Brinsea Mini Advance Incubator

The Brinsea Mini advance has automated egg turning and a platen for 7 eggs. the Brinsea mini eco has no turning motor and no platen and as you'll be turning eggs by hand you can fit in 10 similarly sized eggs in the same space.

Quote: I had a few things to say last year when we got ours. Only real issue I can report is the design of the motor housing means that condensation forms in that section and pools underneath the drive spindle for the platen. Ours has started to rust after just two hatches. I made a...

    Brinsea mini advance

I've had success with the default turn interval of 45 mins. I think the turn amount is probably the thing you should pay attention to... and this depends on the diameter of your eggs of course.
