I did remove the 1st hatchling as suggested, & as soon as the 2nd was dry enuff to remove, I placed it in the brooder w the 1st one. A few hrs later the pippers became zippers & the zippers broke out. Do you think the mixed breed incubation may have had anything to do with the 1st one hatching...
i do have an additional thermometer inside they're both reading pretty much the same. I DO NOT however have an additional hydrometer inside. I did the first wks then noticed it went blank & after changing batteries it still wasn't working so I took it out & have not picked up a replacement
Day 1-17 it stayed at a solid 52% Day 18- today it's stayed at a steady 62% it wasn't until another chick hatched did it go up to 67%. Humidity increases every time a chick hatches & alarms start goin off
i did do the guage tests before i started incubating them & let it run a full wk before i set the eggs. I'm currently goin off of the incubators readings
I have a mixed breed incubation goin on, it's now day 22.5, almost 48hrs ago my 1st chic hatched & is practically dry. 6hrs ago I had another hatch & is still wet. I have 3 that have pipped and are showing small signs of starting the zip process. Can I remove the dry chic to the brooder now...

Have you tried fermenting their feed before giving it to them? And maybe get rid of yer wild bird feeders or place them in opposite direction of where yer chickens are kept. I.E if they're currently in place of yer back yard with yer flock then move all wild bird feeders to the front yard area...
well we were all hopin ta keep tha first clutch of eggs layed & then use each additional clutch until fall of next yr. However we haven't any incubators & really dnt wanna do it ourselves. We wanna rely on tha hens themselves. I guess if they dnt want any babies as of yet then to tha kitchen...
I have a 8-10 month Australorp hen, in which my daughter bought for me a few months bk. She was immediately accepted into tha flock by the others. It didn't take her long at all to choose her Rooster or vise versa. Either way her Rooster is a White Crested Polish Chicken & both of them are...
I have 3 ducks. 1 Crested grey & white pekin & 2 white pekins that are non crested. They were born April 22,2015 so they're just a lil over 3 months now. I've tried to figure out tha sex of each one by using various of methods, except tha venting method, I'm in search of some other possible...
