Feeling their crops today, the liquid seems to have gone, they seem to all have food pellets in there. The pellets are in a compact ball. Maybe it wasn't sour crop?
They were having fresh tap water up until Thursday (when I got Lifeguard poultry tonic delivered) and from there, I was swapping between that and ACV ( FAQ page for the poultry tonic said to swap between them).
I searched for Poultry grade Acidified Copper Sulfate and I couldn't find any results for UK delivery (I live in the UK) but I came across this, please let me know if this is suitable...
Hi,
I have four BO hens that seem to have sour crop, one of them is getting quite skinny and light now, she is lighter than the others but the other hens still have lost weight (although one looks featherier/bigger than usual?).
I alternate their water with an Apple Cider Vinegar and Lifeguard...
I am thinking about making a crop bra for the each of the hens by cutting of the ends of socks and putting them around where their crops are to lift them up so they can have their food empty into their gizzards. I heard that they have holes in the top of their crop, leading to their lungs so I...
Sorry, haven't logged in for a while and only just saw your post. Been trying to figure out a crop bra because I heard it lifts up the food to help it digest (its sagging down and big, in multiple chickens). I will stop feeding the bread, feel the crops and I do have grit, I put it in a little...
It's 23:35 here in the UK but I will upload some photos tomorrow. We have 4 hens and a rooster. I've only felt two of the hens crops recently but 3 of them seem to have low down crops, bigger and squishier than normal. They are noticeable by looking at them.
We give them a bowl of layers...
They've had this for at least a couple of months (I think its got a bit worse since then though). So it's not water. I just haven't taken much notice of it.
Hi,
I have a hen with a big crop, it feels all squishy, what do I do to get her to empty it? I've seen things online about tipping them upside down and massaging to release fluid out through the beak but i've heard people on here say that that is a really bad idea as chickens have holes leading...

Hi,
Why does my rooster's comb keep changing color from black to red. Early on, its usually red and mid afternoon and afterwards its black (I think its sometimes like this in the morning too, it's just random changing).
He hasn't seem to be having much food in his crop lately (past month or...
And if he doesn't poop, just like I suspect he isn't. What do I do then? How long will he survive? Is he in pain? Will he be fine until I get back? I love him :( <3
I have taken some images/videos of his vent.
Does this look normal to you? Does it indicate whether he may have pooped or not pooped without me knowing?
Its 3PM here in the UK now and I can't feel anything in his crop.
Were going to be going away for about 10 days, in about 2 days time. I'm...
I absolutely HATE my dad. I ordered a cage, was getting excited because I knew I could finally find out if he drops out an poop and he tells me he is going to throw it away unless i return it.
Just saw my rooster standing outside with his tail down. He could be in so much pain and I wouldn't...
By the morning it's gone. From what I can remember (I might just be imagining things but i'm pretty sure), from feeling empty crops of hens in the past, they just feel like an empty bag with a few bits of grain in (when they haven't eaten much) but its strange that the rooster has like a tight...
To be honest, I wouldn't want to risk it either. I've ordered a dog cage to keep him in for a day so I can see what comes out of him.
I've also heard that putting broody hens in a dog cage is a great way to break their broodiness, especially when our 2 broody hens have been broody for months...
