Hello!
Does anyone have experince with industrial evisceration tools?
I am processing at least 100 birds every year and it would be nice to cut down on time.
Especially an evisceration fork would be helpful. Does anyone know where to get one?
Hey everyone!
I love chickens. Having them, feeding them, collecting eggs and eating them. But I HATE plucking them, so I got my tools out and got creative.
I just finished building my chicken plucker and took it for a test spin with 20 chickens today.
I spend about 40-45 minutes cleaning...
(S)he made several new every minute. I thought it might be the easiest solution to kick him/her out ASAP, so admin doesn't have to delete 500 new threads.
I know there's a little flag, but I wasn't feeling like marking 500 times
Thank you for that. Looks like I learned something new today.
Yes they are very hard to see through. "When in doubt - don't take it out". I candled again on day 18 and got one wrong. There was nothing in it, but I just couldn't see it.
Well sounds like my 50 % rate is quite acceptable
They can begin as early as 18 week olds, under the right conditions. I expect mine to begin laying eggs medio to end May, so 5 months is a good guess :)
I feed them like this:
1st day: boiled egg and, chicken starter food
2nd day - 7 weeks: chicken starter food
8 weeks - 15/16 weeks...
Thanks to you guys I decided to join the New Years hatch-a-long this year, and boy am I glad you did so ;)
Put 20 Black copper marans eggs in my homemade incubater. There were chicks in 11 of those (hard to see with brown eggs).
1 never made it out of the egg. I helped it a little, but it still...
The eggs of my Marans (B/C) look like this, so it is possible, but I'd say it's not a 100 % match.
My guess is the dark green eggs come from a Marans x araucana mix. They tend to give these olive colours
Well you convinced me @vehve and @Sally Sunshine
I just picked up 20 black copper marans from the lokal egg pusher. They'll go in the incubator tomorrow, when it's ready
Thank you very much. We have all kinds of differend chickens and hatching eggs here in Denmark as well.. Getting them in time for a New Years evening hatch just was not an option since it was already 8 pm when I found out this was a thing.
Besides I usually never hatch earlier than late...
