Thank you. But this did start prior to them moulting. The decrease in egg production was a few months ago in the height of summer, and a couple of them starting sitting hunched down and being lethargic prior to moulting. Also some of the ones that aren’t having a big moult (or not one at all)...
Hello! I am in need of some brainstorming and chicken care advice. I have 12 chickens - 8 of which are 3-4 years old and 4 are born this year in April.
Over this summer, gradually our egg production decreased and their energy level seemed lower. Then, a few weeks ago, some of our chickens...
A friend of mine ordered a mystery Rare breed chick for her flock (among her larger order). She got a blue Andalusian and just does not have enough space to keep her happy. She is located in Evergreen Colorado.

Pullet or roo? 6 weeks old and one of the largest of the group. Postures quite a bit. The comb has me thinking roo. The picture with two also has a dark Brahma on the left - and the combs are so different between the two brahmas. Thoughts? Thank you in advance!
5 weeks old. Very curious and friendly and one of the largest in the group, but it’s the only Wyandotte so I don’t have one to compare it to... many thanks!!
Good morning,
I received a variety of day old chicks (7 of them) through the post office just over 2 weeks ago. One Buckeye was clearly a "runt" and was not thriving, she looked pretty bad for the first couple of days. So, I started taking her out of the brooder, putting towel in my lap, and...
Hello, we have a small flock (just 6 now) after losing 2 hens this fall - the latest a few weeks ago, our beautiful Dolly, a huge light brahma hen that had held flock leader for 4+ years (we don't have roosters). She was kind and brave and loved to free-range. Now, our hens cower inside their...
Hey everyone - I had 2 different sources for some younger chicks and I kept all of them separated when in the yard (they weren't combined with my older hens yet), but unfortunately, they either came with pasteurella or got it from somewhere. Now, I still have the area fenced off in my yard and...
Hey everyone! I would love breed identification and roo/pullet guesses on this little one. It was found lost and got turned into the shelter where we foster. Thinking of grabbing it and throwing it in with my six week olds I have right now. But I can't have super noisy hens or Roos (in town)...
Hello, I have a 12 day old chick that is struggling. She is not as big as the other chicks and her crop was very hard yesterday so I gave her a bit of olive oil in some moistened food and started very gentle massaging. It was softer and smaller today and I'm still massaging a bit. But I'm...
