    Elector PSP? Please help!

I contacted the UK company Elanco Elector, the responded today saying Elector is no longer available in UK or Ireland plus the product they had been manufacturing was for premises only, so it's going to be from further afield anyway.

    Elector PSP? Please help!

Well the spinosad A & D are, I don't know what the "other ingredients" are. And thank you @cmom I have been rotating permethrin and ivermectin. I also use poultry dust. I have found all to actually kill the mites but I'm lucky to get a month before a new infestation. I never use any product as a...

    Elector PSP? Please help!

Here's what my available bottle says Elector PSP® Premise Spray is an insecticide for use in horse, beef and dairy cattle, swine, sheep and poultry premises. Not for use directly on animals. Controls hide beetles, darkling beetles, stable flies and house flies in and around agricultural...

    Elector PSP? Please help!

Thank you @aart and @casportpony, I presume it states not to be applied directly just to cover the company then  Permethrin has been my go to but the mites seem to have built up a tolerance. Thank you :bow

Crop surgery on week old chick?

Thank you for your reply! Yes he is getting grit, and crop massages, although the massaging is inclined to hurt him as the piece of bedding is hard and sharp, but I'm trying to work the massaging. He's still hanging in there, but is almost silently chirping continuously so .... Again, thank you!!

Crop surgery on week old chick?

Hi guys, I have a chick who has a piece of bedding stuck in his crop. He's in discomfort. I can clearly feel the piece of bedding and I don't see how it can go anywhere. I am wondering if any of you experienced people have successfully removed something from a chicks crop and If so, how did you...

Help my baby chick is dying

Sorry you lost her 🙁 It's great you had her comfortable and the passing was not long and drawn out. I believe unless you catch this immediately there's not really any hope.

Help my baby chick is dying

It could be infected... I'm not certain what you should do to be honest, sorry. I would put some iodine on that navel for starters... try get some sugar water into it. Perhaps melt some manuka honey into some water and drop feed it.

3 day old chick not eating

You can make her up some electrolytes, teaspoon sugar, 1/4 teaspoon salt, pinch baking powder, in quart of water. You should be able to get Nutri drench online?

Help my baby chick is dying

Has the chick been eating? Sometimes the chick starter can get stuck in their throats, using a bright light have a look down it's throat see if you can see anything.

3 day old chick not eating

Is she in with other chicks? They will peep if not with others. Have you tried giving her any poultry drops? I find cooking up some egg, mashing it and feeding it to them can really perk them up, and they will often eat it when they won't eat their food. With her feed, try soaking it in water or...

    Brooding Unit

A brooder is simply a secure place where you can contain the chicks. You can use a plastic tote, a large wooden box, anything where the chicks will be safe from dogs/cats/rats - everything, and where they can not get out of. You will need a heat source, first week they need temperature of 95...

    Bedding question for baby chicks

It really shouldn't be that smelly! If the smell is strong I suspect the bedding possibly needs to be changed out more often. Amonia fumes are really bad for chicks/chickens so it's a good idea to not have it smelling bad. I use pine shavings (de-dusted) and I find them really good for...

    Giving a Broody Hen Chicks

Firstly put some eggs under the broody now so she believes she will hatch chicks. Give her some time on the eggs - closer to 21 days the better. Then order your chicks. The chicks need to be less than a week old (ideally under 3 days). Place them under her wing at night while she can not see...
