I buy my syrup by the gallon $38.00 for plastic $42.00 for glass. It is sealed and will last a long time. I buy from a business in Mackinaw City, Michigan. Maybe you can find someone in your area. It is always cheaper, and better than the store.
I wanted to do the Angel Food Cake thing too, but what to do with all those yolks! I found a recipe for Sponge Cake. It uses the whites and the yolks and you have a very similar cake for eating with fresh berries and raw whipped cream!

Some of our chicks are picking each others feathers out.
Will they grow back or do you have to wait for the moult?
Some have little pecked spots on their backs and some have bald backs.
