I'm battling the puss - I have removed it a couple times now and wonder if I'm doing the right thing? My boy had fly strike - I think he had a puncture wound underneath between his legs that I didn't know about and then the flies attacked. I noticed him acting funny and he stank....I turned...

Thank you for your response. I've been trying to decide if I'm doing right or wrong! It keeps growing back and it seems like it is growing new flesh underneath but pulling it off is like taking off a scab with a bunch of yellow stuff attached....geez it is gross! LOL.

Bumble foot in toe of chicken?

Well my friend did surgery on it and it was bumble foot. A picture is posted below (in another comment/post ) of the kernels she removed. First they soaked her foot in Epson Salt. They gloved up and wrapped her in a towel to keep her from moving. After a small incision on the side of the toe...

Can someone help me identify what I'm dealing with (pic included)

You're welcome. The vet wasn't positive it was a carcinoma but he said it would explain why there was no improvement - (and it was actually slowly getting worse) - over time. He was very suspicious of the growth that seemed to start the whole thing. He agreed with your assessment that it...

Can someone help me identify what I'm dealing with (pic included)

Update - Last week, after two rounds of different antibiotics with no real change, and months of caring for his leg, I found a vet who would see my poor rooster in a town about 30 miles from here. He looked at his leg, reviewed my pictures and listened to all that I had done over the past 4+...

Can someone help me identify what I'm dealing with (pic included)

Oh My! I agree! That does look very similar to what he had...He just had that one spot though....but now it is suspect because he did have scaly mites bad when we first got him. Hmmmm…although his feet never looked that bad....But when his (deposit??) fell off, it was hard, I had no idea what...

Thank you for sharing your information. He was a rescue (along with 3 hens) we got about 3 years ago. We noticed his feet looked funny and he tended to lay around a lot....we didn't know what it was at first but figured out it was scaly leg mites. We also discovered the hens had it too so we...

Can someone help me identify what I'm dealing with (pic included)

I won't do anything too soon, he still has 5 more days of antibiotic to try. He still crows, eats good, drinks good and mingles with the girls, I've even seen him mount them. But I fear I won't be able to heal this wound....Thank you for your concern. You've been a comfort and help....
