I currently have a hen resting in my basement. She has been breathing quite heavily and sneezing but there is no discharge whatsoever from eyes nor nose. Her appetite and energy seem normal. She is not stretching her neck nor shaking her head. Her poop is normal. But her comb is a a bit pale...

So it is April here and snow is just starting to melt. I would like to put a sod in with my 9 day old chicks. Does it need to be green grass or can I dry out a piece with the winter "straw" on it? So new at this! Thanks

Here is a picture of the little playground I made for my week old chicks. There is still a bunch of snow on the ground and it will be awhile before they get to go outside. I didn't want them to get bored. They weren't sure at first but now they love it.

So I did my first hatch. Managed to get 3 live chicks and a bunch of dead eggs. I am grateful for the 3. When I opened the dead ones most of them were half formed blobs but 2 looked ready to hatch. I know there were a couple things I can do better but what would have caused the deaths so close...
