Can someone tell me if it is normal for a 3 year old hen to lay a soft egg after molting. It is also still cold in MO and it's still gets dark by 6PM. She started to lay again and the first 4 were ok now she laid a soft egg while roosting at night. I have 4 other hens and none of them have...
I have mice moving in as well. I cover all feeders at night and the waterers are hanging so no one can get to them. Its frustrating. I have cats and dogs and no luck. I have tried all kinds of traps and they dont catch a thing. Im so worried they will over run my chicken area and hurt my...
I live in the city limits and we are not allowed to let them run loose. I do let them out in my fenced garden area with supervision at least once a day for a hour or two. I know its not idea but that is why there play area is so large. I only have 5 chickens.
Can you tell me what dosage you use. I purchased calcium petites and they are 400mg and contain 4.3mg of vitamin D3. How many days would I give this. I have one that has laid 2 soft shell eggs in a rom. One we had to remove the long soft shell hanging from her vent.
My girl is still in a hard molt. Its been about 3 or 4 weeks. She is no longer walking funny and is fine. I did give her vitamins and extra protien seems to help. This is her today. Still has a ways to go. I feel so bad for her.
I usually just give them half a bale for that area its 6ft x 20ft. Because the yard slopes it all ends up on the tire side. It slope front to back and side to side. I have tried wood chips it always ends up in the tires. I might have to rearrange again after winter or try to build a platform to...
Yes I have photos. PIC setup is the whole playground area, I call it. It was one enclosure and we added a second and linked them together. PIC Setup2slant shows you kind of how the yard slopes. My whole yard is a very large downward slope. Unfortunately I live on a hill and I am in the...
I am using old tires for dust baths for my chickens. The problem is that they kick so much straw and other stuff in there that they end up not using them. I was thinking of elevating them on a pallet or something to help keep stuff from getting inside them. Does anyone have a suggestion how...
Yes I have plenty of oyster shells out. I heard you can give feather fixer year round. I am thinking the feed might have something to do with it. I just switch them to this a month ago because they are molting. Thing is I only have one that is having issues. The rest are all fine.
