Thank you, friends! I managed to separate the pullets from the fully grown hens. I put my pullets in a dog kennel in the run, so all of the chickens are in the same place but will be able to see but not touch. Hopefully they'll heal up quickly and we can try again.

She has been at this for about a week now. It is easy to move her--she doesn't peck or scratch, but she is reluctant.

I have a pullet that sits on all the eggs (even the dummies!) constantly while in the coop. Could she be going broody? All my chickens are golden comets, which are generally not predisposed to broodiness.

UPDATE: After taking our pirate chicken to the vet, I learned that there is no ulcer and that it is, indeed, her third eyelid swollen shut. The vet gave her some steroids for inflammation and antibiotics just to be safe. He says that it should clear up in a day or two. I will keep you all...

One of my golden comet pullets stayed out overnight (couldn't find her last night). Now that she turned up, my daughter noticed that one of her eyes is cloudy (see picture). Is this a treat at home situation, or should I be rushing to the vet?
