Here's some pictures of my brooder set-up for the chicks I picked up on Wednesday, July 7th, 2010. There will be 5 regular sized chicks, and 3 bantams. I haven't added bedding or the hardware cloth top to it yet, but when I do, I plan on putting an old bath towel down with paper towels over it...
It sounds like you may be jealous of the time the girls spend with your husband. Though he works a lot, you also mentioned that he hadn't seen his youngest in MONTHS. While that may partly be on her, it certainly sounds like they don't take very much time from the time you and your husband...
If you have a large dog crate (or two), that'll work, as will plastic poultry netting, which you can get for very cheap and section off a piece of the coop/run with it. We made a pen out of that and some 2x4's, and used it to integrate our two batches for a week, and we had no issues at all.
Hello central Texans! I have two 14 week old roos to rehome: a BLRW bantam, and a Blue Ameraucana. I hatched both of them myself. The BLRW is from eggs from a breeder in Kentucky, and the Ameraucana is from eggs from MyPetChicken.
Willing to drive halfway
Thanks! yeah, I'd keep him if I could, but he's been vrowing up a storm in the mornings, and I live in the suburbs on a quarter acre, meaning my neighbors are VERY close to me!
This Blue Ameraucana was hatched on August 7th from eggs from My Pet Chicken. He's not crowing yet, and has been eating soy-free organic developer. I'm in Austin, TX and do not wish to ship him. Please PM me if you would like to give him a new home! Thnx
Looking for some info:
My Blue Ameraucanas are 13 weeks, and two of them have slightly longer tail feathers than the other. These two have always been larger, since hatching, than the one with the shorter, stubbier looking tail. No crowing yet, but one of them is spreading its wings and...
I'm in Austin, TX and have a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte that was born August 7th from eggs I hatched from a private breeder in Kentucky. (No hatchery stock here!) He's now 13 weeks old, and practicing his crowing. I really don't want to have to re-home him, but I'm in a very suburban area and...
Not any recent ones, but I can take some tomorrow. From what I had read about them, she doesn't sound like she's mature, but she started making this weird noise in the last few days that sounds almost like an egg song, and seems anxious, and it was mostly based on this information and her age...
Man, what a shame! The egg guy at our downtown farmer's market was telling me what early developers his were, but then he seems SUPER loopy, so I wanted to check on here. The comb on mine is not very well-developed yet, but he made it sound like it was going to grow and the pullet would be...
