A thin duck, no obvious reason for weight loss

Did you ever figure out the cause of her skinniness? Any luck getting her back to a healthy weight? I have 22 ducks, some rescue and some not. One of the ducks I raised just started to lose weight… everyone else is a healthy weight or has a little too much weight on them. She’s about 5 months...

Guinea Fowl Killed During the Day

We heard what we thought was a bobcat in the woods near our horse paddock yesterday… and the guineas walked right into the woods?! I’ll see what I can do about getting rid of it.

Guinea Fowl Killed During the Day

Sorry for not including more info! Only feathers are left, no body or anything. I’m located in Western, PA. Usually coyotes and foxes stay away from the house/barn because of the dogs… but this one seems to be more brazen. I’ll try to trap it, but any other advice is appreciated.

Guinea Fowl Killed During the Day

I’m in western Pennsylvania. I’ll set out some traps and see about getting some trail cams. I was thinking either fox or coyote.

Guinea Fowl Killed During the Day

Hi! I'm asking this question in a few different places hoping to get some advice! Something has been picking off my guinea fowl one by one. It's always during the day, it's always near the treeline, and it's always In a completely different spot on our property. The places they are getting...

My Pekin ducks have white beaks

Good luck! I would syringe feed my rescues when they were really bad off (very carefully). I'd make a kind of slurry with the different good ingredients -- often they were also very dehydrated from being too weak to eat on their own.

My Pekin ducks have white beaks

I rescued a couple of older ducks (maybe around 4 months old or so?) and I gave them a Vitamin B supplement (like the cattle vitamins), salmon, peas, and brewer's yeast. It took a couple of weeks, but their beaks started to gain their color back. I also made sure I was feeding them a good water...

My Pekin ducks have white beaks

Turns out they were Pekins! Both have healthy orange beaks now... they were just massively undernourished.

    Swan identification!

Hi everyone! This swan randomly showed up in our field the other day. I know it’s a juvenile so it might be hard to tell, but I was wondering if anyone could identify what kind of swan it is? Thanks!! So beautiful.

We buy good duck food and then supplement with things like tuna, salmon, and mealworms to help them get some more protein and minerals etc. I was also making them a slurry of peas, pineapple, spinach, and sweet potato at the beginning. I can't even describe to you how almost dead these poor...

    New Member Helping Abandoned Ducks!

Hi! Thanks for the message. I've definitely used this forum for my questions in the past and have always found it so helpful. Turns out the ducks were just very very very malnourished. After a couple of weeks of the right vitamins, minerals, and food... they now have orange beaks again. They...

Thank you! That was exactly what I did. We have B vitamins, manganese, and electrolytes that we add to the water. And they get premium duck feed to help them recover nice and quick. Their beaks are back to being orange, but sadly one of the females (who had the worst niacin deficiency-related...

Thanks for the welcome! That's pretty much what I thought. We're new to the duck world and we do a lot of research, but I wanted to see if anyone had any secrets :) They'll keep getting the premium diet, supplements, and b vitamins and we'll see how they heal!

My Pekin ducks have white beaks

Any luck figuring this out? We just rescued two ducks that were abandoned by the side of our road. They were soaking wet, shivering, mostly lame, and had white-ish beaks. I'm thinking they are just incredibly undernourished. We've been giving them duck food, salmon, b complex, and other...

Hello everyone! My name is Shannon and I've accidentally started rescuing ducks that people leave at the pond on my road or literally in a ditch by our farm. We are building a duck house this weekend with some help from our community and I'm so excited about it! We started out with 5 Khaki...
