I forgot that I replaced the circuit board on my incubator last year and hadn't calibrated it yet, so the only chicks that hatched healthy were the ones in the tiny incubator, so 7 Ayam Cemani, and 1 modern game bantam the only eggs to hatch from the big incubator was a...

    March 2017! Hatch with us!

I used to raise them, but my allergies and asthma got too be too much to have birds in the house and it gets too cold to overwinter them outdoors, so I had to rehome them. they are ridiculously tiny when they hatch. bull grown they are like, a short fat version of a zebra finch? haha Adults...

    March 2017! Hatch with us!

Yes! Smallest is a button quail, next is a coturnix quail, then a silkie, and a Bielfielder :) My sister took the picture and keeps telling me to make sure people know it's her photo, but I claimed at least half of it for myself because they are my eggs haha.

    March 2017! Hatch with us!

Well I usually mark which eggs came from which sellers anyways so this time instead of a seller name I just put the egg's name instead. I usually either build little divider baskets, for different sellers and that has worked in the past. I also livestream fun hatches so I can see who is hatching...

Ayam Cemani double yolker! any tips?

no go they looked like they were doing great, almost no blood loss, were absorbing their yolks well. I was being really careful to go slowly, they were literally almost out when chick a stopped moving, then about 30 minutes later chick b stopped as well. not sure what happened they looked like...

Ayam Cemani double yolker! any tips?

egg started pipping, so I took some initiative and made a hole so I could see what was going on. (I've helped lots of chick hatch successfully so I *hopefully* am doing this right) both chicks are moving. chick on top ("chick A" I guess) is very visible, but lots of yolk still needs to be...

Ayam Cemani double yolker! any tips?

Ya I've watched and read everything I can find, most of them are mid progress so I am still unsure of where and when to start helping. top chick will just start in the air cell, but I am afraid of poking anything at the other end since I don't see any air pocket at all that way- I am nervous...

Ayam Cemani double yolker! any tips?

Oh and for the record I do not approve of intentionally incubating double yolkers. (too many sad stories) If I had known I wouldn't have incubated this one. It is deceptively shaped and I didn't notice the size when I put them in the incubator.

Ayam Cemani double yolker! any tips?

Hello, I recently bought some ayam cemani eggs and got them in the incubator, and when I candled them I saw two distinct chicks forming. (have been hatching chicks for years I am SURE there are two in here) I only have one other viable egg from this order so I REALLY want at least one of the...
