Limping Chicken -updated vet thinks it’s Mareks

Well, she progressively got worse. I took her to the vet. They’re going to go ahead and run x-rays on her right now but he really thinks that it’s Mareks. I’m at a loss for words and absolutely heartbroken.

Limping Chicken -updated vet thinks it’s Mareks

Any other thoughts? Definitely the hip area. I am moving her to a smaller kennel as she is in a bigger pop up run and I think she has over done it as it seems to be a bit more a problem for her to bring her leg forward. She paces of course when she wants to come out and is trying to be too...

Limping Chicken -updated vet thinks it’s Mareks

They get pellets, scratch, fruits and veggies and bugs a 1-2x times a week. She is defecating, some smaller than normal ones and not as much frequency as I would expect over the last few days. Haven’t noticed any cecum poo either?

Limping Chicken -updated vet thinks it’s Mareks

Hey everyone, hopefully someone can give me some tips or suggestions! One of my girls has been limping/wobbly when she walks. I noticed it 2 days ago and brought her inside. She can put wait on it but has a hard time pivoting to the side and that’s when she gets wobbly and loses her balance...

Blue Cochin 7- 8 mos later did I turn out with a roo?!

Born in May, bought as a pullet, everyone guessed pullet but sure enough it’s my luck I think she may be a he! These waddles and the comb just really blooomed out of no where in the last couple of weeks. The other reason I thought she has been a pullet as my roo constantly dances around her and...

    Silkie Sex 12 weeks

Thank you so much! Lol a few weeks ago I thought they would be boys because of some characteristics. Here is a pick of the white and the blue next to each other as chicks! I thought it might be a splash or blue when the feathers started coming in.

    Silkie Sex 12 weeks

Thank you! Was crazy when it started turning from white to the blue color. I hope she is a she! name is Tuna and the White is Mayo, then pickle and pepper. 🤣 That being said Tuna behaviorally acts like a roo, but I have seen other young pullets act that way so I don’t know!

Follow up at 12 weeks what do ya think? Pretty sure the one black silkie is a cockerel. And what is my greyish looking silkie? Bought as a white when I got it. I hope pullet but behavior wise I don’t know.

Dog kennel run and rats question

I agree with the heads poking through! And we have cats around the neighborhood. I texted my neighbor again and he doesn’t lock his in the coop at night. These are some big fat rats so I assume maybe that’s why he has never had an attack in 8 years with his chickens. Thank you!

Dog kennel run and rats question

Thank you so much! Lol I rigged up more snap traps in boxes randomly in the run and closed it off again so curious to check the cameras in a bit just to see how many will be running around. I have caught a few but over 6 months not two in one night. ☺️

Dog kennel run and rats question

Oh they can fit through it just fine! Since 3 where in there last night on camera when I looked. I placed snap traps with peanut better in the the larger closed off run at like 10pm last night and got 2 out of 3 in traps. Another question when do chicks start to roost? Mine all still snuggle...
