    Unknown Injury to head

He survived the night!! Eye is still swelled (looks like a hematoma) but he does try to open it. Not sure if he's seeing anything out of it though. His beak looks a lot better, it seems straighter and he's not oozing from his nostril. I heard him eating a bite or two, saw him eat a piece of...

Thank you for your advice. I will continue to treat and hopefully he will recover. I will get them separated, I thought I had more time.

    Unknown Injury to head

I have a 4 month rooster who stays in our Big Bird run with a 1 1/2 rooster, 2 other 4 month roosters and about 9 hens and pullets. They've all been together from hatch. One minute he's fine, we fed them scraps and went about our business. 15 minutes later we found our 4 month old walking around...

    Hatchery choice?

I didnt think about that. The cuckoo marans I ordered dont have feathered feet.

    Hatchery choice?

The 5th pic is my last Salmon Faverolle😞 The other 2 died. And they are the main reason I ordered from a hatchery. The dark chick in the background is the cuckoo maran.

    Hatchery choice?

They do and blue splash marans but this chick doesnt have feathered feet. But if the other 3 are Olive Eggers (I ordered in 3s), I have the 3 cukoo marans, 2 white leghorns and then the no butt feather, black speckled chick that started out yellow like the leghorns.

    Hatchery choice?

We were wondering about those "crested birds". So they might be olive eggers...cool. So that means, I lost 2 faverolle, 1 leghorn and apparently 2 dark layers. What yellow chick would be a dark egg layer?

    Hatchery choice?

I bought 15 chickens through a hatchery online. I lost five of them but I don't know which ones I still have. I was supposed to get three Hatchery Choice dark brown egg layers, three salmon faverolles, Three Olive eggers, three white leghorns, and three cuckoo marans. I know I still have three...

    Still thinking Orpington Roo?

These babies have had time to grow. Not sure how old but I'm thinking I have a cockerel and pullet. I think its orpington but I wanted fluffy butt orpingtons.

    Are they orpingtons?

So these birds have had time to grow...pretty sure its a rooster. Not the orpingtons I wanted. I wanted the fluffy butts.

    Ideas for Keeping rain out

Would this type of vent in the cut out triangle section of the gable be sufficient on both sides of coop?

    Ideas for Keeping rain out

Wow! I wish I had seen this before assembling the shed! Great ideas! I won't be able to do the rooftop thing (just not that talented) but I can try putting in louvered vents in front and back, and changing door windows to hardware cloth. Thank you!

    Ideas for Keeping rain out

I forgot to include a pic of front. I was wondering about using some sort of solar powered exhaust fan in one of the skylight holes too.

    Ideas for Keeping rain out

I have roof vents in front and back. I also installed 2 Windows across from one another for a cross draft. But, I've been told I need more ventilation. I was wondering if I took the plastic off door windows and replaced with hardware cloth if that would help? I'm worried the rain would pour in...

    22 chickens and 5 roosters

Would there be anything to consider having 18 hens with one rooster? Is that a healthy ratio?

    22 chickens and 5 roosters

The coop is 7x7. Roosters are 6-7 months old. We live in rural North Alabama so neighbors aren't a problem. I actually started with a flock of Barnyard mixes which I thought were hens. Then I found some Easter Eggers and there were two Easter egg roosters with them. Those two sets were all...
