Official BYC Poll: Which of These White Chicken Breeds Do You Have?

I have 5 white chickens. One is my cockerel Scott. He came from a White Leghorn Hen and a Crested Cream Legbar Cockerel. I also have a white hen, Sonoma, who was his sister from the same hatch with same parentage. I have two purebred White Leghorns. and just recently Scott fathered a hatch...

12 week old update. 3 boys 3 girls?

Lillibet, Eggbet and Danita are 16 weeks old today! Expecting eggs in a few weeks ladies! 🥚🍳🐔🐣🐤🐥 I'm still hoping Eggbet is a girl (barred one). She is still smaller and underdeveloped but fingers crossed any male traits would have shown by now.

Pullet or cockerel. 10 weeks old.

There's a good chance No. 1 is a pullet, I'd have expected much more wattle growth on a leghorn X male. Here's my chick at 7 weeks and 10 weeks, mother was a white Leghorn and father a Crested Cream Legbar Hes now a 15 month old cockerel and a father of 6 new chicks!

12 week old update. 3 boys 3 girls?

Haha me too! Hes my only cockerel so i know for sure he is. He is a hybrid himself and will carry the barring gene from his Crested Cream Legbar dad. His mum was a White Leghorn and he certainly got the looks from her side.

12 week old update. 3 boys 3 girls?

For those that have helped identify the gender of my 6 chicks over the last few weeks. I'm pretty sure now that there is 3 pullets and 3 boys. Hatched 12 weeks ago this weekend and (said in the style of Friends "Chandlers a girl") Eggbets a girl, Eggbets a girl......(I think 😂) Eggbet had a...

Captured one of the boys learning the ropes of being a cockerel with his dad today!

10 weeks old - mixed breed boys or girls?

Hi For those that have seen my threads on these 6 wee chicks, here they are at 10 weeks old and quite a few changes since my last thread, though mainly only the ones I know are boys are the ones that have changed with some differences in feather colours and visual differences on the head and...

7 weeks old now, still 3 girls, 2 boys??

Yeah - I almost gave up at one point and thought that I was battling a lost cause. We treated it in the house twice and put straight back out with the brood every time. I think it was being back with Mum and the flock that had the most benefit. Fighting fit now and a normal chicken, just a...

7 weeks old now, still 3 girls, 2 boys??

Thanks. I'm really glad to hear that about Eggbert. Bonded with that wee chick when we had step in a couple of times and rescue it! We splinted it's toes at a day old and had to give lots of TLC at about 5 days old when it got its head stuck in the fence for a full day!

7 weeks old now, still 3 girls, 2 boys??

9 weeks old now, photo from today. Hoping these are my 3 girls (Eggbert, #1 and #3) One of the barred cockerels has started to grow brown feathers all around the head, getting more certain #4 is also male now but not 100% sure yet.

7 weeks old now, still 3 girls, 2 boys??

@Rhodebar Lover Thanks so much. I didnt know to consider shoulder feathers! May help in seeing how Eggbert develops in comparison to the other 3 barred ones if they are all boys. They all have a few bluey/green feathers coming through. I assume from their Rhode Rock mums that you can see in...

7 weeks old now, still 3 girls, 2 boys??

@JedJackson @Rhodebar Lover Thank you for your thoughts! Number 4 is a strange one for sure. It certainly doesn't appear cockerel like in its behaviour but that comb and wattles screams cockerel I know. I think it will have me wondering for a while, especially when comparing to the colour of...

7 weeks old now, still 3 girls, 2 boys??

Thanks so much for your thoughts. I will feel very lucky if 4 out of the 6 are girls! They are almost 9 weeks old now and there is no sign of saddle feathers yet, not even on the boys (from what I can see with my limited knowledge!). I will share more photos in a week or two when they will be...

7 weeks old now, still 3 girls, 2 boys??

We're now at 8 week old and still hoping 1 and 3 are girls. Eggbert and 4 have me scratching my head, some huge comb and wattles on 4, but not as big nor red as boys 2 and 5 and even more obvious in the side by side photo. Eggbert still small, just sprouting a comb and looks a touch red...

7 weeks old now, still 3 girls, 2 boys??

Thanks, appreciate your thoughts! I still have hope for 1 and 3 and like you, number 4 gives me uncertainty.

7 weeks old now, still 3 girls, 2 boys??

My chicks are 7 weeks old this weekend. Still only sure of 2 boys. Still hoping the others are girls and still too early for wee Eggbert, its comb as only just started to develop and considering it has same parentage as all the black and white barred ones its quite a bit behind in growth, this...

    Are these Roos or Hens?

I'd say 4 and 5 are boys, others look like girls.

    NOT A Cream Legbar

They look just like my Scott & Sonoma who were from a CCL cockerel over a White Leghorn hen. They were both yellow chicks too with very small black spots here and there
