    Panting Chicken

I’ve been keeping chickens for 14 years and this is the first time I’ve seen this. I lost the chicken the other day. Still don’t know why, but I think she might’ve been egg bound. There were no respiratory issues. Three days later, I have a chicken (four years old) who is panting. The others are...

    High humidity in incubator

Already posted this in the quail forum, but not getting much of a response. We set up Our Hovabator Genesis incubator today. Put water in channel 1 and let it run for an hour. The humidity was at 65% so we took the red plug out hoping for it to go down. Let that run for two hours, and it was...

    Not a buff Brahma

This one week old chick was listed as a buff Brahma. But, it's feathers are too dark. Could it be another type of Brahma? Or is it a different breed all together? Thanks!

I bought five pullets at Rural King last weekend. One was supposed to be a blue Cochin, but it's obvious that they gave me a different breed. Any ideas? Thanks!

4 year old EE sleeping on ground and nit moving around much during day

My favorite four-year old chicken seems to be going downhill. She sleeps on the ground and sits on the ground all day. Doesn't move around much. If she does go outside the run, she just sits under an orange tree and stares into space. Don't think she is eating or drinking much. Could it just...

    Dark gray legs

I have a chick that is five weeks old and I thought it was a welsummer or barnevelder, but it has dark gray legs. They are much darker than my EEs legs. Is it possible? Do any dark brown egg layers have gray legs?

    Crows are stealing my eggs!

Last week, we kept finding one egg a day in the yard, broken open and partially eaten. Saw a crow flying out of the coop and figured that was the culprit. Today, all my eggs were stolen...including one wooden egg! Anyone else have this issue and what did you do about it? Guess we will have to...

What the heck is going on!?!

My chickens are quarantined into the back of my yard by a four foot tall fence. The last two afternoons, I have found an egg in the middle of the yard that they don't have access to. There is a hole (the size of a quarter) on the side of the egg with little chipped pieces on the ground. But...

Flock is laying half the number of eggs it was last week!

I have 16 hens. Four are 4 years old and twelve are 7 months old. Before last week, we were getting 14-15 eggs a day. We closed off the coop they were laying in last week to move the 3-week olds outside. They have a nesting box that is not as private, but all we have right now. Since then, we...
