Cookie tin water heater: where to find light bulb socket?

I went to a thrift store and bought a lamp with the light base we wanted. Spent $2.00 9 years ago, then did the same thing 4 years ago when we added another waterer. My hubby also caulked around any openings he made, I think that's why mine have lasted so well.

Hi MaryZoe, You might have already dealt with your mites, we are at the end of treating a 50 bird flock. We mixed in a 1 gallon sprayer, left the flock outside at dusk. Major attack - is this a bear?

Look up how bee keepers set up their electric fencing for bears. it is pretty different than I would think to do. Do not leave any feed in the coop, that is really what it is after, the chickens/eggs are a side note. Be sure to store all the feed in metal containers to control the smell, I would...

Remember* in addition to free choice feed, once your chicks are a 1 to 2 weeks old, add chick grit. that's like adding teeth, their food is more broken down, becoming more digestible and saving you money because the feed is actually used better. Then, as they age you will change them to granite...

    cooling off your chickens

Always remember that chicken heat and cool with the day. If you give them something that lowers their body temp...then it shoots back up- it will cause problems. Give cool water, deep shade--as much as you can, you can water their feed, shallow pans with a bricks to walk across to cool, and...

Impending 24hr power outage. Help fam!

if anyone else has that problem...try an inverter hooked to a car battery. you may need to start the car every 2 hours for a bit otherwise works well. I used it in a car in the summer to run a heating pad on day old chicks for almost three hours until we got them home. the chicks were quite toasty.

    EMERGENCY

So sorry for your loss. It could be a month before they begin to lay just under normal moved to a new farm reaction. With the stress they were under it could be longer, depending on the physical condition and how long it takes to get to a place of healing it might be after the equinox.
