5 beautiful silkies need good homes

Altho the law changed, you may be grandfathered in and may not have to give up your flock. Usually a county or city cant make a new ordinance just to rid themself of a "issue". They can make an ordinance to prevent more but they cant take stuff away that was in place before the law. Just a...

    What did the killing?

In my experance. Birds of pray will eat their kill where it lays but there is usually parts of the birds left. A dog on the other hand will grab the bird rip feathers out and leave nothing but a pile of feathers. With coons, if they are large will only leave feathers and very few pieces of...

For the powder antibiotics. Its 1/2 a table spoon to 1 gal of water. Make sure its made fresh always since it has a short shelf life once mixed. I would do that for 5 days, if shes not better then continue for the full course on the package. Good luck!

Help! Should I go to the vet- Light Brahma attacked by German Shepherd and has two puncture wounds

Oh also keep her isolated, well vented, and clean. I kept my silkie in my bedroom, isolated and quiet. I put her in a box with towels as the bedding. That way my home and her wounds were kept clean and dust free. Stress is going to be a huge factor when it comes to birds. Keep us.posted!

Help! Should I go to the vet- Light Brahma attacked by German Shepherd and has two puncture wounds

I would go. My silkie was ripped appart pretty bad. Vet had to clean her out, pull feathers and stich her up. I also had to get her on antibiotic asap. I used a 1/2 table spoon per gallon of water for 14 days. I use terramycin. Good luck. I do reccomend a vet tho.

    Thin silkie!

So I have 2 silkies, they eat and run and play but at the end of the day they dont have full crops. They dont seem to eat the feed. They will eat grapes, scratch, bread and grass. They are (to me) thin. Why wont they eat? Or at least eat more? Like I said, perfectly normal, just wont fill their...

    Hen raising chick question?

I use flock raiser and just have oyster shell seperate as an option for the flock. That way me chicks abd roosters are safe and the hens have calcium options. perina makes flock raiser in pellets and crumbels. I usually buy mine at Tractor supply or Runnings.

How do I go on lock down?

You take then out of the turner. You can place them in egg cartons with the bottom of the carton cups cut out to allow air flow OR you can use paper cups cut down to almost the bottom of the cup and put the eggs in them (these methods are used to prevent chicken soccer when babies hatch) OR ypu...

Coons can also destroy hardwear cloth and chicken wire so planning is key especially on a budget.

    Raccoon...A Dirty Word!

Well we cought our first coon today, very unexpected. We actually bated our snap traps and left them unset so the coons would get lazy and when we actually set them we could catch it. But we left the DP trap set (kinda forgot about it since it didnt attract them). Well behold I go to walk into...
