i am sorry, here free range means 'lots of room outdoors' they will be penned on all side though.

the reason i am asking is because they will be free run in the day, but shut up at night, and i need a quick and easy mechanism (such as a hinged door at the back of each nesting box) to get at eggs. but that will be hard if they are scattered around the coup. any ideas? pictures might be...

what would be the best type of grass for quail???? i'm talking real 'breeds' of grass or whatever not "green grass" or "no grass" something that can take a lot of foot traffic and scratching, can take dampness, semi shade and is still 'edible' ( not a spindly brown patch of weeds)

i already thought of that one! bought a bunch of fast growing ornamental grasses, cause' they reminded me of the quail scene in Bambi! of couse that one didn't end well..... anyways, anybody know any fruit or nut trees suitable?
