Agreed, I go deeper with mine here in MN. the girls poops are mostly solid, but every once in awhile there is a mostly liquid one, then I can scoop under the frozen stuff and pick it right up.

I like when mine walk through it, it cleans their feet. Also, if one has a really dirty butt, has the runs or whatever, I'll scoop some up (with gloves on) an rub it on her backside lightly, it dries it up after a few scoops and she is pretty clean after that. She appreciates it as well, even...

This is a pretty small floor area under the roosts, have you thought about just putting a short board, maybe 1x4 on this side of the roosts on the floor and putting the PDZ right on the floor? You already have a "stopper" on the other side. That way if they miss, it won't matter as it is on the...

When mine were young a couple of them would sit on the edge of the poop tray, I just moved them up to the roost a few times, then they started going up there on their own. So, who knows.

I use straight PDZ in the poop tray. This winter I also put it on the floor of the coop, then covered with pine shavings to help keep it dryer in there.

Here is my "hospital, prison, or someday brooder" I will be using "mama heating pad" when the time comes for more chicks. I'll pick the poo out just like if they were in a bin. chickens on wire can get bumble foot i believe. Plus baby feet/legs can fall through and get caught, possibly injured.

I went to the website, it says this: What is Sweet PDZ? Zeolites were formed from volcanic activity millions of years ago, and it should be stressed, that all zeolites have unique characteristics and abilities. The clinoptilolite (Clino) that comprises Sweet PDZ is one of the very best at...

At tractor supply it was 8.99 for a 25 lb bag, I can get it at a local feed mill for 16.99 for a 40 lb bag. I can't find it anywhere else around where I live, the feed mill is 30 miles away and tractor supply is 4 miles away

Sorry, I should have been more clear, I bought the Granular sweet PDZ, it is just more powdery than usual. I'll go back and make it more clear in my first post.

So this most recent 2 bags of Granular Sweet PDZ I just bought(yesterday) from Tractor Supply were a little more powdery than the granular type regularly is, and it had a slightly different smell. I looked at the ingredients and it says it is "Clinoptilolite" instead of zeolite, I looked it up...

I agree, i'd take out the corner box, I would also leave a space on the opposing wall to create a corner, that wold be a great place to hang a feeder.

My roost is low enough where they can't dust bath under it in the sweet PDZ in the tray. I do provide areas with organic peat moss where they can bath in the winter.

You could still take out one side of nesting boxes if you want, then you could hang their feeders and waterers under there and save even more floor space. or are the dividers removable? you could use them for storage, put some doors over the front.

I've seen other nesting boxes like that with no tops, I think it would be fine left as is.
