I've got a couple really cool girls. I didnt hatch them but a friend of mine gave them to me. The first 2 are Egyptian Fayomi/Araucana crosses(papa was a red pyle araucana). One is rumpless, one isn't. Both have pea combs and the rumpless just started laying tiny blue eggs! They will both be...
Got a good pic of my blue girl. I cannot wait for her to start laying!
The laced girl in front is due to start laying anytime. These are the last of my dominant white project and the egg color has potential to be a nice bright green or olive. Hopefully. Cant wait though! Her single combed...
Yeah I tried to hatch those olive eggers.. I couldn't see a darn thing either. I'm not even sure any developed though to be able to see anything.. I use an old overhead projector so I can usually see into eggs pretty well. I've never had any trouble with blues though.
I've found the marans eggs to be harder to hatch so I prefer the dark egger boy over a blue egger hen. The blue eggs are also easier to candle. Just my preference though, the breeding works both ways.
I've been meaning to share a pic of this girl. She's a FBCMxBlue EE. I think I'm still a month or 2 away from eggs...
The little girl in the front is an Egyptian FayoumiXAraucana. She has a pea comb so hopefully I'll get blue eggs soon! (Icelandic in back.)
I have some dominant white girls. Hatched about 50-60 chicks last year from my dominant white boy (with red leakage) over misc colored olive egger and EE's. The dominant white chicks were either white with black or blue flecks, or creamy orange chipmunk pattern.
Alfredo and one of his...
These are all from the same hen. An f1xf1. The first egg is a blown out egg from around easter. She's been laying for about 6 months and I think she's running out of paint! They were all consistantly speckled dark green until recently! If I had more then 1 laying eggs or old enough to lay I'd...
I have about 20 pages to catch up on since I've moved but my only olive egger I kept is now broody!! She tricked me too I wasn't sure if she was still laying eggs but we came home from being out of town over the weekend to a missing chicken. The landlady pointed her out to me after she almost...
And on the blowing out the eggs I only do one hole and use a 60cc syringe and 16g needle to blow everything out the hole and then fill and rinse them many times with warm water. Its really easy especially because the shells are so thick. I found that a tack, like a push pin, works best for...
I walked down to the neighbors yesterday because her girls started laying.. I had sold/given her 4 pullets. The 2 shades of olive/green and the brown are f1 x f1's from my flock, the other funny colored egg is from a 1/4 cochin/olive egger cross.
Makes me want some POL pullets.. I actually...
After a week of lockdown things started getting stanky and I wasn't opening up any eggs! LOL Although I was going to ask you what you fed your birds because of all the development. I'm sure its not the feed!!! Wonder if its the animal proteins that's your key though. I dont think my feed has...
I know it's a long-shot but I am moving back to "town" with dbf to be the twenty three year old that I am and not this crotchety chicken, cat, goat, and duck lady that lives in the woods and talks to her animals! Is anyone interested in a flock of dominant white olive eggers? The f1 rooster...
Here's a single combed 'extra'. I kept him because he was the ugliest little thing and I couldn't figure out what was so different about him from the rest I've hatched.. It was his white saddle feathers! But boy do I love this guy now, he's maybe 20 weeks old.
Him and his boyfriend...
