My new layer is laying an egg similar in color but smaller. She has a wry tail but nice copper in her hackles..... I hate to cull her. Maybe the Olive Egger pen??????

Even birds with feathered shanks will produce some chicks that have clean shanks. They carry the genes to make feathered shanks but don't express them. I prefer to use birds with feathered shanks but I know they carry it so I don't worry too much about how much they have at this point. Bigger...
The legs should be SLATE but the skin should be white. Any yellow on a juvie is a big no no. (chicks can have yellow legs for a few weeks but any older with it would be a big concern.
