I traded my Ayam Cemanis that hatched for some Silkie/Polish eggs to set! Ooops!! :D (I live in an area that doesn't allow birds, so can't keep any babies I hatch anymore unfortunately!)
Looove seeing all the baby pics!! Finally caught up on all the posts!!
I started with 7 eggs, 4 ended up being unfertilized, and the remaining 3 all hatched! 3 Ayam Cemani babies! My class named them Sweety, Tiny and Bob (lol).
I have been a bit MIA and will catch up in a bit, but had a quick question!
I had 3 eggs make it to lockdown, all 3 pipped about 18 hours ago. One is hatched, one is zipping currently, but the last one pipped on the opposite end of the air cell and hasn't made much progress. Anything I should...
Yes, definitely don't have a cabinet incubator! I'll just toss it.. I forget how little they are when newly hatched to how big they seem at a week old already. Better to not risk it!
I totally get what you mean! I've only hatched one other time, but I actually buried all the quitters because it felt like the right thing to do. Also I didn't want the eggs cracking open in the garbage and my seeing inside lol.
Today is Day 7 for me and I can't wait to candle tonight and see...
Same for me! I always worry my temps/humidity are off and overthink it. This time I'm just trying to let my incubator do it's thing and leave it alone other than adding water into the little pot it has lol. It's only my second hatch and the first didn't go great sooo :idunno
Love all the beautiful egg pics!
Here's my eggs that I set last night! I decided to go with the 7 because the 8th one was very small and if I squeezed it in there, all the eggs would have been touching.
Thank you both! I am virtual so the eggs are at home with me. I think I might just put 8 in to start as I'm sure there might be some clears. I only paid for 6, but she wanted to make sure something hatched for us. :)
Okay, I love this way of looking at it. Last time I hatched- I got so lost with all the calibrating and what not. I did my best, but my hatch was only 2 out of 8. I had a lot of eggs make it pretty far but only 4 were able to go into lockdown. I'm using one of those Mini Advance incubators...
I'm going to read through the rest of the thread in a bit, but I just picked up some eggs to set today or tomorrow :D I've only hatched one other time, so pretty nervous! They are 8 Ayam Cemani eggs. Just trying to get a thermometer/hygrometer quick since the one I had broke.
