In addition to the thermometer I purchased a hygrometer from Amazon. The hygrometer on the incubator isn't something to rely on.

I locked down 27 eggs. I've been candling but not too carefully. I candled again at 20 days and removed 2 that we're obviously dead. I was left with 11 eggs that didn't hatch. I didn't candle them, but in the future I would.

I am hatching birds of various origins. I hatched 14 out of an original 37 eggs. Many were clear and some died in the process. My neighbor is happy with what she gets but I think I should do better.

How long have you had your incubator? I too had about 50 percent hatch rate on my first two hatches. I'm glad I discovered that the thermometer I was going by was faulty.

Yesterday was the 17th day of my current hatch. I put them into lockdown and within a few hours I had two hatch. I'm impressed with this new thermometer that I bought from Amazon. Great! I'm glad you're having success. I have been pleased with the way the incubator has performed and I do not believe that it has in anyway contributed to my failures. Keep up the good work and keep us informed on your hatches.

The final report is that I got 16 babies and 13 that didn't hatch. There is something I'm missing here. I candled at 10 days and at lockdown. Perhaps I didn't cull good enough at lockdown. Those skills certainly need improvement. The eggs that didn't hatch had babies that died at different...

The one that was going to hatch just hatched. I candled the remaining. I actually saw a live chick move in the egg. I saw 6 eggs that were underdeveloped, and the rest I put back in the incubator. I'll check them again tomorrow.
