I don't see many, but yes we have Copperhead, Timber Rattlers, and the occasional wayward Cotton Mouth. At my house the only poison snake I've seen was a dead copperhead left on my sidewalk. That was before I got chickens. My husband has always brought big black snakes home and turned them out...

My LF laying flock took a 3ft snake away from the cat. The snake was still wiggling and they had it torn into parts and were fighting over it in no time at all. I didn't see near as many snakes around last summer, but found several pieces at different times.

I hand 4 coops and a barn. All my LF sleep in the barn. The silkies have their own coop. Although several have moved into the other bantam coops at night. I turn the coops out and feed them first. After they have lost interest I open the barn. The only time the LF ever pay attention to the...

I have a goose and ducks that free range with my chickens. They get along fine except when the water fowel want to go under the tree the Silkies hang under. You've never seen anything as funny as a flock of full grown ducks and a goose running from a puffed up Silkie roo.

From my chicken expertise which is almost non I would say he is a Cochin. If he is bantam I still think you may be fine keeping them both. I have a Cochin roo living peacefully in my barn with 3 EE roos. They are all large fowl. There's also two bantam roos in there. They all get along. I...

What breed is Obie? Putting a young roo in with a adult is easier in my opinion than putting two adults in together.

My Silkie roos do just fine with my other roos. I wouldn't give up on Percy. My Silkies free range in the same yard as the LF Ameracauna Roos with no problem.

Are the laying in the coop or out in the woods, yard or some place. What kind of next boxes do you have for them. Do you have any pictures to give us a idea?

Keep them in the coop for a few days until they get the idea. Then start letting the out in the late afternoon so they have already layed.

I can't believe you could understand what I was saying with my phone auto correct adding odd words. I went out today in my boots with no incident. The Silkie I raised here are always under foot. I'm afraid I will accidentally step on one of them. I rehomed the last Polish roo I had. I told...

Polish are Mediterranean and dome of the meanest good I've ever had... I had one of my Silkie roos go after my feet this week. I was in a hurry and walking fast. I hadn't changed into my boots. I think he was after my blue shoes more than he was my feet. I hope that was the case...

Okay I'm thankful and at the same time have steam coming out my ears... I had someone contact me via Facebook asking for Silkies. She wanted to trade. For a trio. The problem was I didn't have any extra roos because I just gave all mine away to good homes. I do have some young pullets I've...

I use sharpies too. I use them with Broodie's to easily see stolen eggs and in the incubator to color code.
