    MALLARD THREAD...not rouens, Mallards!

That was my exact fear! But anyway I've had some get spooked too i think mallards are one of the more easily spooked breeds.

Just saying ducks get spooked by a lot of little things. So even if they want to stay they get spooked and fly away anyways a lot of the time. And for their sake of survival clipping them is just safer. That's my opinion

A mallard raised domestically WILL NOT survive out in the wild on its own 99% of the Time. If you believe in "freedom" so much just let all your ducks go then buddy. Also not all ducks can fly I hope you realize. Edited by Staff

No the hen does not "cause" offspring to be one gender or another what happened within the duck or chicken is not decided by the animal :) hahaha I guess you're saying "basic biology" trumps med school. An animal cannot decide its offsprings gender. Yet; anyway.

I'm not saying what you said isn't correct hahaha I'm saying that when you say one gender or another "determines" the gender of an offspring that phrase should be used more loosely. You are talking to a cardiologist here buddy.....

Oh my hahahahah you are complicating this..... An animal human or duck can not consciously decide if it wants its offspring to be male or female. What you are describing is quite different and involves features of the animal that can be used to tell if the animal is male or female. By the way...

maybe I'm not understanding the question but neither gender determines the offspring.....it's just like every other animal and the parents don't decide the sex of their children that's just the way it goes.

That sucks :( I haven't had any more problems now that my dog gets along with the ducks though! So maybe if you have a dog you can try that.

Ya this raccoon won't get away with this my yard if full of traps and my duck is at a friends house hanging out with his flock. Sadly my ducks dead body had to be used as bait :(((

    MALLARD THREAD...not rouens, Mallards!

This morning I went out to check on my two ducks the Pekin and the Mallard. the first thing I noticed was that the Pekin was all alone so I looked and the Pekin was covered in scratches then I found one single spot of feathers and blood, then I looked again and under the propane tank a couple...
