well none of my eggs made it :( They didn't look the right size for lockdown either so I'm pretty sure the incubator was without power for at least a few days :hit. Now I'm having trouble finding more WH eggs, so I might be out of luck for the year.
I'll be checking them tonight at about midnight when I get home from work, and if they look good I'll lay them on their sides. I did take them off the turner but left them standing up. I had some in there for my friend too so it's sad :( There were 11 WH eggs and about ten Ayam Cemani eggs, plus...
am so sad :hit I went over to my workshop to lock down my eggs before work and found the incubator off! I don't know what happened, everything was plugged in, so I think maybe a breaker flipped or something. Didn't have time to mess with it so ran the eggs into the house and plugged the...
Yes, but only if you're making real red sex links. Two red sex links bred together just make mutts and their offspring don't have any sex linked traits. But if you were to breed, say, a rhode island red rooster with a rhode island white hen, their offspring would be red sex links, and the...
Congrats everyone on the babies! Lovkdown for my incubator eggs is tomorrow, woo! Now to get the humidity high enough for ducks to hatch. And of course now that I'm almost done hatching, I have another broody hen who decided that late September is just the perfect time to hatch chicks, lol.
Congrats! My broody orp has a little chick running around with her today that is just the cutest little thing. I didn't know if any of her eggs would hatch but they did and the baby is so cute! Takes after its father and looks a lot like he did when he was a baby, but I think it has a single comb.
Actually, I have three pullets from Greenfire, and a trio (two hens and a cock) from Tonie Marie Austen. And of course I have a bunch of their babies running around, lol. And all of my AC eggs in the incubator are developing! Had one duck egg quit, but the other 11 are still coming along.
How are everybody's eggs doing? I'm going to be doing the one week candle on my cemani eggs and the two week candle on my duck eggs tonight or tomorrow.
Good luck! I just had to mention it because we keep seeing people in the ayam cemani thread who are getting ripped off. There's one person in particular on eBay who sells mixed breeds, and then when the chicks hatch looking like chipmunks and the person he sold to asks him about it, he says that...
Who will you be ordering from? You need to be careful, there are a ton of scammers out there right now. Just saying it as an ayam cemani breeder who's seen way too many people get ripped off :/
I wouldn't add during lockdown. The new eggs have different requirements than the ones already incubating, which is why it isn't a good idea to stagger hatch.
