Well, this has never happened... they are all the same size. PLEASE tell me they are all girls The blue with the white bib might be a tad bit bigger than the others.
Whoops, sorry, lol. I thought they were just standing funny because they are on the edge of the pool. They are so pretty. Do runners mate with regular ducks??
Yes, they are. I'm down to just two drakes of breeding age now (thankfully) and the other male is such a gentleman it's amazing the difference between them.
Spring "relations" never stop here It drives me crazy. I have one male that chases his girls. I'm always running after him yelling, 'they don't like you, leave them alone, lol.' It doesn't stop him for even a second, lol.
Beautiful! Sorry to hear about the mom. Congrats on the great hatch. I have one that started with a smudge on his head. Now some feathers are coming in chocolate near his oil gland. I hope mine turns out as neat as yours
I can never get good pictures either I'm guessing boy based on his size and feet. Are his legs much bigger around than the girls?
Chances of fighting are high with boys when there are girls around. I've been seeing some aggression in my girls too though. Tonight a younger girl got after...
Hard to say from the pictures. Can you post another one with side views?
I'm sure the scovies will soon fill your heart. They have mine and I don't plan to have any other kind now
She might think she is safe under there. I would definitely pick them up. They might attract predators and you don't want them rotting and then exploding. I think so. We have ours separated from the chickens. I know the ducks are much happier without them around.
Can't really say why she wouldn't go in the coop but if you want her to go broody and hatch lings I would build her a separate duck house. It might take some time and you helping her to realize what it's for but yes, she will eventually use it.
Best to be too over protective than not at all Ya know, I'm still hoping for peaceful harmony amongst all of my flock so I don't have to get rid of anyone I did threaten Carl yesterday telling him he's going on Craigslist
X2
I've been very lucky and have had no problem with the drakes bothering little ones. However, I have seen some of the other girls get after the little ones. I do watch them all very closely. Mine all free range but are shut up together at night.

Will these babies with the colored heads turn out with white heads? The drake is a White headed black pied. Hen is a blue pied.
Can you tell the colors these babies will be??
Thank you all and anyone who would like to reply
