I had quite a lot of fun charting the genetics out on a basement floor in chalk. Kind of like a cheat sheet with the genetic code writen out with the color name and how it related back to Chestnut,(wild type)

This chart is a great way to figure out the basics. It dosent handle the broken gene or the breed specific ones, but it gives you a good basis to learn and work off from.

Nice! I have a black tortiseshell Satin and it is a gorgeous color in them. Shes stubborn though havent succeeded in passing on the non extension gene successfully even with 2 yrs of trying. :rolleyes:
I've had issues with waiting too long and the doe getting too much internal fat to breed even at 9 months, but just be persistant and give it time. If no luck in a month maybe put her on hay only for a few weeks, then try again.
I use a fold up dog exercise pen when breeding. It allows me to intervene easier if necessary. And I can shape it into a triangle so the buck has a chance to corner a doe if need be. But you haven't had them a week yet, give them time. Also do you know any of the does history? Age, last litter...
Be prepared for extra grow out cages! I always seem to run out of cage space every breeding cycle. Then again finding time to butcher 20+ when you want to save the hides means I have a little bit of a back log. 😆
My older buck gets soo very frentic over the does that I only allow him 5 min with one if shes being difficult. He's only 4, but I am seriously worried he'll have a heart attack one of these days.
Try at different times of the day as well. A few of my does will only breed in the AM, one prefers...
