She looks so serious. I have one Sebring and she tried to go broody earlier this summer and I was considering letting her have a couple eggs so I moved her to a different nest and she decided it wasn't worth her time to pursue motherhood. I find the those breed things can be wrong. One said that...

Good luck. Hopefully giving them some time apart will help them calm down. If not, then at least the nice birds will get to relax a little until it's time to leave the brooder. My meanie did eventually stop picking on all the others. IDK if it was a sign that they were getting crowded, but he...

I had one chick that was just plain mean. Kept attacking a bunch of the other chicks relentlessly. I ended up buying a metal hamster cage from Walmart and sticking him in there so he could be by the other chickens, but not get to them. Turns out he was a boy. I'm not saying that's the reason for...

My daughter felt bad for our sebright too. She's our only one and every time we'd go into the coop she'd stuff her in her coat. One night she begged me to take her home w/ us. I let her, but she quickly realized it was a bad idea so she went back home to the coop. She looks so tiny with all the...

My BBOE (in my avatar) is the same way. On the ground you'd think he's the biggest baddest rooster in the world, but I pick him up and he is fine. This morning he attacked my foot and I laughed at him. I was told by the lady at TSC to bantams have 'little man syndrome' and that if I ended up w/...

Thanks! Good to know. She seems to be growing her feathers in and less seem to be following out. Her tail is growing back in too. She wasn't totally bald, but her stomach and tail feathers all fell out. Now she's partially covered w feathers still filling in. I've been closing up the door on...

Question.. I have only one sebright & she's finishing up a molt. I live in NE Ohio and it's gotten down into the teens a few nights recently. So my question is Are sebright bantams cold hardy & if not, what temp is too low for them? Thanks.

Mine was laying 5-6 eggs a week since mid July, but just stopped. I'd read they only lay 52 eggs a year, but if they only lay for 6 months or so a year then it still doesn't add up b/c based on the lower average of what mine was laying, she still laid ~70 eggs this year and she didn't even lay...

Thanks! Some of my other ladies randomly stopped laying, but then started back up a little while later but this seemed different. I assume her comb will get red again before she starts back up.

I have a sebright bantam pullet, she hasn't laid an egg since Sunday and last night I noticed her comb is now more pink than red. Anyone else have theirs stop laying recently? I'm in OH and IDK if it's the shorter days, or colder weather that has her stopped. We're down to about 10.5 - 11 hrs of...
