Hey Ralphie, look closely at the "seeds" they are throwing out. Believe it or not, thistle seed actually has a shell on it, they are probably shelling them at the feeder, eating the seed and leaving the husk.

Is it a purple pine siskin? I don't remember but I think that's what my Dad called them. I also don't remember them having such black eyeliners. Pretty birds whatever they are called.
I've actually been having an indigo bunting at my feeder the last few days! I haven't seen one of those around for a few years. It's nice to see them again.
