Hey Ralphie, look closely at the "seeds" they are throwing out. Believe it or not, thistle seed actually has a shell on it, they are probably shelling them at the feeder, eating the seed and leaving the husk.

Great pics!! Would love to have some grouse take up residence around my place. Is it a purple pine siskin? I don't remember but I think that's what my Dad called them. I also don't remember them having such black eyeliners. Pretty birds whatever they are called.

I've had a pair of cardinals at my feeders off and on all summer. Is this common? It's the first year I've seen them come in the summertime.

When the wind died down toward evening, they came back out. I still have a few feeding every day.

I've actually been having an indigo bunting at my feeder the last few days! I haven't seen one of those around for a few years. It's nice to see them again.
