Well, it's getting closer to chick season and I'm still indecisive about it. I love everything about the cochin bantam, except for the fact that they mature slower. On the other hand, the phoenix could also be a really nice free range flock. It doesn't help that all the colors the...
Right? When I first saw them on the internet I was like what in the feather duster is this? But hers are wonderful. Not only are they actually beautiful, but they also make excellent pillows
Can't say I was the biggest fan of silkied cochins at the start, but yours have definitely changed my mind about it. Plus they're easier to sex than actual silkies
It's done. You've succeeded. Now I am fully converted. Still not as much as my aseel, but nothing can top that. But these fluff balls? They're now in second place. I don't know how you pulled this off, but I'd pick one of these guys over a modern game pair
Yep, thank you SO much, this was exactly what I was looking for. I definitely won't have them in with my gamefowl, that would not be the smartest of choices. They will either be with the layer flock or by themselves, but since I'm also looking to get yokohama, one of them will have to be with...
Basically, as with my brahma thread, tell me everything! How to raise chicks, how quickly do they mature, their weird antics, how many eggs do they lay, how often do they go broody, how many eggs do they cover, what's the fertility rate, how well do they fly......just to name a few
Wow that much huh? Oh well bantam cochin it is for now🤣. I guess since I've pretty much decided, you all can tag all the bantam cochin experts to help?
On a (slightly) more serious note, I've gathered that due to the heat of the summer months here it'd be best to have bantam cochins rather than larger birds. Well, I guess my dream of having a huge pom pom ball and naming it pom pom won't come to life🤣. Not necessarily mad about it though, we...
I personally have created a symbiotic relationship. My murder chickens always come first, yet I want to have a second flock with poofy birds that are basically walking jokes and incubators (mean this in the best way possible)
Same. Especially for fluffy butt breeds. I've noticed this forum has an addiction with those, and it doesn't help that these breeds also tend to be the broodyest amd/or the friendliest
I have, but I've read that they aren't the most broody, they're kind of a gamble when it comes to that. Otherwise, I'd love to get them, and your experience definitely indicates that they do go broody quite frequently
I'd think it's the same as what @3KillerBs said over at my brahma thread, that a poofy bird would kind of be insulated by its feathers for both hot and cold weather
