I notice there's not much activity here but thought I might give an update on our 14 ISA brown girls.
They will be 24 weeks old tuesday 8/16. We got our 1st egg on monday 6/27 when they were 14 weeks and 6 days old. We got the 2nd egg on july 4th and it has been building ever since. We got 9...
I have only raised buff's in recent years...about 5, and they usually started off with a bit of a smaller egg but very quickly went to their normal size. I have 14 ISA pullets and have gotten 17 eggs in the last 12 days...they have all been very small except one and it was a double yolk even...
We have gotten our first 3 eggs from the 14 ISA pullets we have...they are very small...smallest first eggs we have ever gotten...less than half the size of a regular size egg...makes me wonder about the reputation for very large eggs. This is our first ISA's so don't really have anything to...
I have 14 ISA Brown pullets that are 14 weeks old. These are the first ISA's we've ever had. Some of their face are beginning to get a little red but no practice cackling like our BO's have always done...matter of fact they make very little noise. Not even much squawking at all. They are the...
They grow quickly...mine are 7 weeks old tomorrow. We have 14...ordered 25 but they were a day late arriving and some were DOA. We gave 6 to our great granddaughter which leaves us with 14. We also have 26 buff orpington's that are a week old today. Good luck!
I have 14 that are 4 weeks old...have had many chicks over the years and thought I would try the ISA browns for egg production this year...first time for me to have them. Hoping we get lots of eggs. I usually have buff orpington and will probably get more BO's in a month or so.
That is really a nice flock of chickens...! I like the dark-dark red RIR's...is that the single comb...? Do you breed brothers/sisters or just down line daughters/granddaughters/etc...? When I was growing up we didn't really learn anything about chickens...just turned a bunch loose and they...
Thanks for the additional pictures...beautiful birds. If I understand correctly, you are maintaining a flock of both RIR and RIW for base breeding stock. Do you get your base stock replacements from breeders or hatcheries...?How often do you freshen the bloodline in that BASE stock...? Do you...
Looks like not much going on here...no post since december but will post anyway. I am replacing my entire flock of buff orpingtons with isa browns from townline so they should be the authentic birds. Had to sell off my bo's in order to leave home for a few weeks to attend to sick relative and...
