Hello @Gramma Chick Dad will be fine. We were involved in a serious accident on I-79 enroute to Pa. over the weekend and he took some heavy hits but he's a tough old bird and gets out of the hospital today.
Thanks for asking

So much depends...the weather and or the ambient temperature where you live, will it be covered, will it have a heat source for chilly days and nights?
I'm assuming you will be dispatching these chickens very early in life?

FYI...I'm using my dad's pc while he is in dispose.
Daniel...don't even think about keeping the chicks together. The older ones will soon get to large go be in that tank, even if they have it to themselves.

Our chickens have eaten bushels upon bushels of apples (seeds and all) for over 70 years with no apparent problems, other than just a bit of loose stool when they first begin to drop. We have a few varieties that provide fruit from mid to late June, way up into the fall. It really takes a bite...
In my mind...99.9% certainty, based on the fact that I have seen thousands of Australorps at this age, it's a cockerel. (now, after that...watch it be a pullet!)
No...if they ARE Austra-whites, they can have the black spots anywhere on their bodies. They are an extremely good layer too, usually better than the straight Australorp, due to being a hybrid with White Leghorn and their eggs are generally of great size and shape, and are colored white or more...
Might be able to arrange a shuttle...it's done all the time. My son could drive the pup to a specified location, another trusted BYCer could meet him and go another stint...and so forth.
Unfortunately, some 'rescue sites' are actually profit motivated but caring for dogs in NOT cheap. You might visit some shelters personally. I know of two shelters not that far from here that let dogs go for $50 bucks and give that back when the dog is neutered.
I paid a lot more than...
Unfortunately, they can be had for very little at many Animal Shelters/pounds. I have two that money couldn't buy. I think the ACD/Heeler is without doubt, the smartest breed of all....sometimes too smart for their own good.
All of our nest boxes are the same size and we have cut a piece of mining-belt (made of 5/8ths inch reinforced rubber) to fit every nest. The breeds we have lay very hard shells but the rubber in the bottom gives a bit of extra protection.
