Hopefully someone can reply asap
My friend who is incubating the eggs for me said one of the eggs pipped on the bottom.
Bottom as in where the air cell is but on the bottom part as the egg is flat. Not sure how to explain. So the pip hole is facing the "floor" of the incubator.
Will it be fine?
These don't count for this annual hatch a long but just wanted to share the cutest Turken chick!! I hope it's a girl but I will keep him even if he's a boy!
My broody hatched 5 out of 6 eggs. The 6th was not fertilized. Glad it didn’t break the full 21 days 😬
The picture is a bit blurry
We had one quitter.
Should have seen it coming. It was behind in development and was smaller than the others even though the egg was decent size.
They go on lockdown in three days!! Can’t wait!!
Today is technically lockdown for my broody hen. I’m pretty excited to see how many hatch (she only has 6).
I hope she waits enough days to give all the eggs a chance because I think she was sitting on one egg for one day before I added 5 more and moved her.
Today is the day!! To set the chicken eggs!!
I dropped the egg carton as I was driving to my friend's house and one egg cracked so instead of a dozen it will only be 11.
3 white
3 olive green
5 brown
They'll be barnyard mixes.
The eggs haven't been set yet and I’m already wondering how many...
I have collected enough eggs for incubation and will be delivering to my friend tomorrow.
My silkie mix is STILL sitting on the 6 eggs I gave her!! I’m so excited. I hope they're all fertilized and that they all hatch. I can't wait to see her with a few chicks! (These ones won't count)
My friend is still setting my eggs on the right date but I have a broody that refuses to get up and I think she's making my others not lay (is that possible? 🤔) so I will be separating her today to hatch out a batch today. I guess these won’t count 😂 but the ones my friend will incubate for me...
My chickens were giving me a dozen eggs a day average for the past month and of course the week I’m due to collect for incubation I’ve been getting 4 eggs in two days!! Nothing has changed except the weather.
I have decided to let them free range for a few days to see if that will destress them...
I live in the EST time zone (it's 8:49* pm right now)
When should I set chicken eggs? I know March 26 but does it matter if I set them in the morning or in the evening?
@casportpony
I’m a YES as well.
I asked a friend if she wouldn't mind incubating my eggs with my incubator and she was delighted.
It helps me know who will take and care for the chicks once they've hatched because we have no plans to take care of chicks this year nor do I need more...
Will it still count if I ask a friend (not a BYC member) to set eggs for me for this contest? I would let her borrow my incubator and provide the eggs. I haven't asked, and I may end up doing it myself. Just curious if this was allowed.
