Those are great pics of them!
love that you have them out and about.
You will know soon as the boys get a much bigger comb and black feathers start coming in.
You'll know by 4 weeks for sure.

hrmmmm these are the ones that come from the eggs marked WS from the same hatch & source (the two on the left, the right is a Barnie from my own birds-I'm guessing pair of Wellies & Boy Barnie)

Wow, I had 2 hatches of 18 eggs each of Partridge Penes and of those 36 plus eggs, 2 hatched. The rooster later died and I gave the pullet to a friend in the country with chickens; and he says she 'ran away from home' but that's because he does not believe a hawk can carry off a...

Hey Josh
what do you feed them for dark egg color?
that's wild
I'm curious too Josh, I'm so sorry about your predator losses I'd love to let mine free range, but we've had coyotes and bear in the YARD, so my mixed breed egg layers can go out, but not these kids and my human kids...

Somewhere I read that Cuckoo Marans lay a ligher dark egg but more of them. I just bought 2 hens, and have to lock them in to get eggs.
I kinda hoped they had a stealth nest to hatch from being bred before they left their roo to come here.
I don't have a scale, but they are medium...
looking like a little girl to me because I see no black feathers coming in, just the brown
at 3 weeks the boys start getting black feathers, at least in my limited experience
I put two of the Wheaten Penedesenca eggs in with some BCM eggs in my incubator. There are 3 light colored eggs in the top right that are neither BCM or WP.
WP eggs are circled in white. The darkest BCM eggs are circled in green.
The lightest BCM eggs are Blue/Black/Splash from Bev Davis line...
Here are pics of my Wheaten Penedesencas at 5+ weeks.
Let me know if I am off on these. I'm new to Penes. Their legs look a little green in these pics, not so much for real.
I'm ok with learning by showing. Doesn't mean I won't love these little buggers, just have to pick good stock to go...

I'm so sorry you had such a hard time I had a similar experience (only had 1 chick of 3 dozen eggs and it later died), but those eggs were picked up, not shipped. I was very lucky to come across my stock. Their eggs have been hatching well. I do tend to run a higher humidity at...
I had trouble hatching Partridge Penes. I got 1 pair out of 3 dozen eggs and then the cockerel died. So I have a partridge pullet.
I gave up on trying to hatch them for awhile and got a dozen of Jerry Pools Wheaten Penedesencas. I have 4 little monsters, 5 weeks old, right now. 2 girls, 2...
