Who else is waiting for that first egg?

I know eggs here are anywhere from $2.79 to almost $4.00 a dozen. Do any of you sell your eggs. What do you charge? Once my ladies get going well, I plan on selling them by the half dozen at my work (I already have a laundry list of interested co-workers). What would you sell a half dozen for? A...

Who else is waiting for that first egg?

I wasn't really referring to the color of my chickens. When my stepdad bought them, from the local feed store, he says he thought the guy referred to the breed as a yellow leghorns. They are actually all white, except one that has a black feather. Someone on here told me that one was probably...

Who else is waiting for that first egg?

So how do I get my ladies to lay in their nesting boxes? Since it looks like they will be fond of laying them in the run. I noticed some of the nesting boxes appeared to have the wood shavings all fluffed up by the hens about 2 weeks ago. So I assumed they were getting them ready as...

Who else is waiting for that first egg?

That is my assumption. I don't know which hen laid the two eggs. But based on what I am told about egg color, I assume yes! I really thought my big yellow leghorn that has the black feather(I am told it is a cross breed) would be first. Just based on how she was acting, and she is the biggest. I...

Who else is waiting for that first egg?

After getting our first one yesterday, we had another today. I assume it is one of my RIRs. Don't they lay little brown eggs? I thought I read yellow leghorns lay white eggs, and My other ones are leghorns. The egg layer, so far, isn't using the nesting box. Nor are any of them sitting on or...

Who else is waiting for that first egg?

So did I! My coop isn't incredibly big, but I have enough nesting boxes for each of them, they have plenty of room in the run, food, water, shade, fresh garden greens, etc! Everything!

Who else is waiting for that first egg?

Yeah, someone pointed that out . We got them from the same place at the same time. But this one had that one single black feather on it's back (they were about a week old). It just VERY recently started getting a little more black. I was sure she was a rooster. Then sure she was just the...

Who else is waiting for that first egg?

And this is the one that, for 2 months more, I kept going back and forth as to whether a pullet or not. It got sick last week and the comb got pale and droopy. It is back to it's old self now. But comb never went back up!
