Received my premium check today from the State Fair and to my surprise, I did have the Champion and Reserve in the light duck category! It just is not a class they give an award for or someone made a mistake? Happy anyway! So Kari, you and I should hold our heads high this year! Woo Hoo!!!!

Very happy to have found them such a good home. I know you will fall in love with those Buff Brahma pullets. They are little sweethearts even though a bit tough to rodeo in a long pen! And if you ever want to have some of your own chicks, I can rent you a roo for a weekend!

Just finished washing the show birds. Got a late start cause I rammed my little toe into the foot of the sofa yesterday AM. It's only been there 5 years and this is the first time! The bruise goes about 3" up my foot. Hope it's not broken! The birds are drying in front of a heater. I have...

17 out of 20 hatched. 2 of the late hatchers seem to have leg problems and will most likely be culled. The next hatch will be pheasants and maybe some more of my eggs. Not sure when the teacher will be getting those eggs, he wants a hatch before the end of school. Three of the kindergarten...

Yes, they moved the camera from hatcher to brooder. It is the current date and time. 2011 must be when the account was set up. You should see, in the brooder, a brown chick (Barnevelder) a couple of yellow chicks (Delaware) and some silvery/white chicks (blue splash Orpington) and the striped...

No, you're not crazy! lol At least no more insane than the rest of us! Your girls should travel fine in a large dog crate, or even in a couple of boxes, as long as they have ventilation, some feed and drink now and then. The weather is finally breaking toward warmer temps, the overnight lows...

I would recommend putting them in the garage with a heatlamp. If it's a sunny day, get them by a window so the sun can shine on them, they love it! And you can turn the light off for awhile. As-long-as your garage is protected from constant drafts, they will be happy, harden and thrive! Make...
