    best brand of chicken feed?

I think it means for chickens you've bought to replace the ones you don't have anymore. (Whatever)

    best brand of chicken feed?

True, things do get more expensive. But IMO, I think it's gone up in price with the popularity of chickens. Notice it's becoming similar to dog food with more and more choices, LOL. I just think that's quite a jump all at one time.

    best brand of chicken feed?

If I had the energy I'd drive up to Tractor supply. But I got a cold and think I'll just stay on the couch with some nice loose leaf hot tea.

It used to be a few dollars difference for higher protein. 10 pounds is a lot of difference. So now Layena is 40 pounds too? I can't see how they can justify selling 20% less feed for the same price. Layena is only 16% right? Of course it would not matter what blue seal was costing.

    best brand of chicken feed?

Re Nutrena Feather Fixer 18%- it comes in 40 pound bags, same or slightly more money than 16% protein. I'm so mad. I buy 3 bags at a time of feed and this means I get 30 pounds less!!!! Always trickery.

    best brand of chicken feed?

I have all my feed bowls set up with a can or home depot 5 gallon bucket on a pulley above it and just have to lower them at night. I have 2 that I have to put the can on manually, LOL. It keeps everything out especially if it's sitting on a cement patio tile. So everyone's food is covered...

    best brand of chicken feed?

LOL. There's a great movement towards label readers and after spending 2 hours in a Petsmart one day, I did actually find a brand of dog food that was honest about what was in it. I think there may be 2 brands out there like that now. If you look at the ingredient label, see how many dog...

    best brand of chicken feed?

Yes, the article is 6 years old. At that time the farmers that included the melamine were dealt with by the Chinese and I'm sure it was not taken lightly by them. And I wonder what the amount of times that some Chinese product has warranted a recall compared to how many times our producers...

    best brand of chicken feed?

Yes I think it's wiser to use the 16% feed and add some other type of protein to it. Otherwise, you're just getting more of the same kind of protein when protein types should be varied. I'd like some of the protein to be anything other than soy.

    best brand of chicken feed?

Buckeye feed looks good, I looked up places near me, one is closed down. The other only sells for horses. I'll have to call the one left. They do have several different layer feeds, one is 20% and has porcine meal and animal fat in it. I think that's good. Which brings me to the question...

    best brand of chicken feed?

http://www.hort.purdue.edu/newcrop/articles/ji-millet.html I read this a few years ago and ordered a 5 pound bag of pearl millet. It's very small and I had to add it to my blend of sweetfeed with a molasses base for it to be picked up and eaten. I guess I am one of those people who feel...

    best brand of chicken feed?

When you get custom grain from a feedmill, what about vitamins, minerals, electrolytes, and calcium? Do they mix that in too? How do you know how to order the ingredients? As for Purina, Dumor, Seminole, Manna, and southern states and Nutrena and Country something, it's basically all the...
