I'm loving all of the updates on them! Thanks so much for continuing to post about them! I am so happy they are just as productive and fun for you as they were for me! I miss them, but it's nice to see them carrying on!
Yes. If she is brown with a white dot, she is female. If he's more of a light tone all throughout the body and a bigger dot on the head that spreads out, he is a male.
I'm so glad they're working out so well for you! They were always my most productive birds. Wish I could have kept them, but time demands just got to me. I'm so glad you are enjoying them!!!
When I hatched them before, I did learn a few things. First, they seemed to be one of the most fertile breeds that I had. Second, I after trial and error, I found the best way to hatch them is dry incubate them (no added water the first 18 days). Then, do not turn them day 19-21, but add water...

So, now comes the time for me to decide whether to keep my Jaerhons or part with them. I've been doing a third masters, working full time, joining a new therapy cohort with the state, trying to manage a small farm, and keeping a social life are not wise to combine. I am only on here today...
Congratulations! I had great luck with Amy's eggs. I started mine on slightly lower protein and added ACV to their water for the first 2 weeks. They're now 2 months old and I haven't lost any. :D
They can be bred together. However, in order to maintain the colors, it is best to keep them separate. Otherwise, you'll have some recessive genes hiding that will be hard to get rid of later on if you should want to.
What does everyone do with their extra roosters? Since I have 6 males and 4 females, I need to get rid of a few roosters, but can't imagine that they would have much meat on them.
Amy, those chicks I got from your eggs are still going strong. They are 2 days shy of 2 weeks old. So, fingers...
