DAY 16-17 CANDLING…..
OK….here is my update on the last Candling results. The size of the air cells on the remaining 14 eggs I have in my J24 incubator vary in size. I have several that seem like the perfect position and size, while in a few others I see some air cells that seem not large...

Just did my 10 Day Candling….Out of the 18 eggs still in the incubator, 15 are viable and 3 seem to be non-fertile. (10 Buff Orpington and 8 High Noon x Leiper).

Just finished my Day 5 candling. Out of the 24 eggs that were set we had to remove 6 - 2 quitters and 4 non-fertile. And out of the remaining 18, 3 are iffy - Pretty bummed about that ratio.
I have 8 High Noon-Leiper eggs and 10 Buff Orpingtons in all. Let's see what happens. hu.gif
I have seen opposing views on this topic about when to put them in a brooder. Some say to leave them in there as long as possible 24-48 hours in order to avoid there being a dip in the humidity level and thus shrink wrapping the other chicks in their eggs and the other view is to pull them out...
FIRST TIME using the J24 - The temperature keeps fluctuating in it. I have a seperate thermometer in it that reads different from the one that is built in. I have it taped to one of the inside see-through sides so as to not interfere with the automatic turner.
