These are 3 of the 4 that hatched july 9th... barnyard mixes, i think roos.. I love the mohawk on the orpington mox. i have no idea what the speckled one is. maybe someone can hazard a guess, but i am sure he is a roo..
ok, so i set more chicken eggs yesterday and the duck eggs are in lock down...gonna try this again.... got 5 out of last hatching...checked all the ones that didnt hatch and found all had full develpoed dead chicks. i am using duct tape this time to seal the box so i dont open it....
i lost the little sick one, found her dead this morning. Put the 4 in the brooder this morning, hoping the rest hatch soon. these guys were on day 22- 23 so maybe the rest need a day or two.
i have 5 hatched so far.. gonna hope the rest hatch in a day or so, into the brooder tomorrow with this gang, they are sure active and running all over the bator. everytime i look in, they jump up and run around. got one little one who is slow to get going and must be the runt...
i think i counted days wrong, i put them in about 5 pm that saturday so would the next day be #1 .... I candled them before lockdown and could see veins and movement but alls quiet today....??? if it is always this difficult, why do people do it over and over again?''
